that i do. I can run any top so if the subaru top stuff is easier, cheaper or better, i can weld accordingly. Biggest issue is i am in Saudi Arabia. So, if you need measurements or better pictures, i might have to get Dan Norkus to do or someone else.

Yeah yeah pounding sand when ya ain't poundin your puddin'.
I have a second gen lower tube here (somewhere).
I think NEARLY all (NEARLY) Japonaise thangs have a 15mm bearing and so its easy. Now personally I like a fat pin in a spherical bearing. 20mm is stronger by major multiples than 15mm and a 12mm threaded top.

i trust you to make it as super bitching as possible. weight wise, the car was about 2400lbs, rather 50/50 on the split. I think its a touch more to the front since the engine is about an 1 or two forward now. (FC subframe). This did put a little angle to the dampers up front but not too much.

My worry on the front is the same worry as always: Tire to spring clearance.

OEM they have these wacky tapered springs for clearance. Longer ears is one way but only a bit before we're boinging the rubber top mounts (hence the like of spherical bearings. )
Know the offset on the wheels you'll use?

off hand, no. Really comes down to me using whatever is availble. I plan on going to a 5 lug when i go to the volvo rear axle. Wheel wise, at least in 15" wheels in 5x4.5" , there are really only so many choices. I would like to see if the subaru or mitsubishi 5x4.5" rally wheels would work, but i have no idea of their offset and clearances.

the rx7 stock wheels are 40mm. The stock mitsu are 46mm. Not quite sure whats the best way to get that interchange.

IIRC the top is something like a 17 or 19mm pin with a 14 or 16mm D-shaped thread, the bearing is in the top plate and the strut rotates in the strut housing when you turn the wheel.

Well that is for the genuine 2nd-gen strut top dealies. The 1st-gen stuff is a standard Big Ball Bearing with a normal kind of pin, but I don't have anything available at the moment so I can't measure.

i can tell you the second gen strut fits the first gen top....

like i said, maybe just use a subby one and ill cut and weld accordingly.

Neither of my 2nd-gen struts (OEM or KYB ) fit a 1st-gen top. Difference was about 1mm. That's why I bought a pair of ZX2 strut tops and tweaked them to fit - they used a D-hole like FC but have the same height and bolt pattern as FB.

i have no idea how my crap went together then, it just did...

So again, JVL, choose your method that works best and ill do whats needed to the chassis. Wheel wise, i think ill try for the 40mm to 38mm area, 38mm being common aftermarket.

What else do you need information wise?

okay JVL, could i send you a payment maybe on the 15th to get the ball rolling? also can you pm me a final price etc? Are those offsets mentioned above viable? Id call you but unless you have a toll free number, i would have to spend like 30 bucks to call you.
