well the quickener isnt mounted yet and will be just trying to figure out clearances.

also, mounting under the dash would require either buying more things i dont have like aftermarket steering things, or trying to cut up the column.

What kinda quickener is that? Looks like it fits there nice.

I drove a newer BMW the other week and fell in love with the steering. 1.8 turns lock to lock from the factory. Too bad it's wrapped around a big fat pig of a car (650i).

with the caveat that I don't know much up front...

if you were re-using some of the existing holes for the subaru mounts, wouldn't it be better to use the rear two and gain a little bit of caster?

Is there adjustability for camber or caster down at the bottom?
If not, remove springs from struts and make top mount be in a nice location for desired camber and caster. Nothing worse than making something and having it make for shit handling.

i dont think i follow on the removing springs to optimize the alignment.

also, the engine mount cup is 1/8 steel plate. I plate to reenforce from the bottom once the engine is pulled. Does that seem sturdy enough? Its seems like it but i am only a mere mortal.

i am considering using an aluminum weld in bung in -8an for the oil return.

If you remove the spring you can compress the strut through its range of motion. Give you a visual representation of what the wheel does through the range of suspension travel.

I think your factory strut mount actually allows a bit of adjustability by rotating the uppper mount through the 4 bolt holes.

you are correct on the stock adjustment, although without the rx7 mount that wont happen in the first place.


how wrong would it be to have a 2mm spacer made?

driver's side mount is mocked up! Perfect clearance with the steering quickener. Tomorrow ill get the metal to mount the quickener and finish the steering! Then i just need to do the trans mount, then i can pull the engine and finish weld.
