you are correct on the stock adjustment, although without the rx7 mount that wont happen in the first place.

how wrong would it be to have a 2mm spacer made?

I did this on that car.... any chance that one of sets of bilsteins you have still have the spacers on them? Might save you some time.

Alex, Saw the pics of the drivers side mount. Looks good, how thick is the metal for those ears?

using 1/8" plate cut with a jigsaw. The ears are pretty stout and on par with most manfacturer thicknessess. Once the engine is out, ill add some supports when finish welding.

also, Doug i foudn the bag of spare bilstein spacers!!! You made my life easier!

John,

After some searching i cant find your images of the transmission mount ideas.

Google "JVAB crossmember":

oh here's a nice drawing showing the reinforcing on the engine mounts and how the bend the edge of the sheetmetal boxes on the chassi rail:

excellent Jon!

I see the mount is aluminum. Ill probably just use steel because.... well i cant weld aluminum.

Ill mimic the mount reinforcement as well. Once this is done, the car should come together quickly. Wiring and plumbing is the easy stuff.

Finally got the FB tops onto the coilovers! Good news is they clear! I also got the ARP studs onto the five lug hugs. Assembled the whole shebang with calipers and the wheel to see if everything clears. Looks perfect. Huge amounts of clearance!!!

I also removed the engine and finish welded the mount brackets. Added supports for the driver's side. The mount for steering quickener was made and welded too. Finished welding the steering adapters as well.

Zott some wings onto your mounts, Wide too distribute the load..And add a "rear wall and floor"..

So the ear length worked out OK?
Good..
Thanks for your patience, man. It is hairy sometimes making the lengths without the car or the knuckle here..,
Got a shot from centerline of car looking outwards and up at the distances spring to wheel?

Funny how times change. We used to put rotaries in Datsun 510s and 1600 roadsters, VW dune buggys, GLCs and 626s....nearly everything including air planes. Lite, compact and very powerful. Then someone drops their kid on his head a time or two and...

Nice job, outta be fun in a couple more weeks!
