engine oil cooler is just to the left of the intercooler in that pic uses ducting to hole in front bumper. PS gets cooled as I add it due to a small leak at the rack. Wasn't in the budget to replace this go round. Trans cooler? would have to have some form of pump I would think might just run as is till I can't anymore.

Pics are mostly just because I took em. No desire to DNF my first rally and not be back on stage asap.

with the house being our biggest financial drain at the moment, I've simply put the car together for the most part as it was. Added radiator ducting, rerouted harness, been replacing plugged hoses for simpler water outlets from the back of the block. Fixing everything that went wrong at idaho. The boost leak from the broken IAT sensor housing etc.

Been plugging away, an hour here an hour there after the kids are in bed. Engine bay is much more organized than the pic of test routing above. Next up is to go drive it around a bit and then screw with the dash and gauges.

Started it up tonight for the first time since starting reassembly. Fired right up, loads too much fuel but she feels snappier. Hoping to send Grant some "neener neener I lit up the tires of my rally car in the driveway" videos tomorrow or friday.

Pics were all facebook links... apparantly they don't like hosting anymore.... If anyone wants to find piccies feel free to add me. Someday I may have some free time and fix them all...

https://www.facebook.com/anthony.j.johnson.79

Car is on stands in the garage awaiting completion of the basement. Once the basement is done the only renovation we have left will be the kitchen and I'm gonna take a year before I start that one.

I have fiddled with the car a little. New injectors, rerouted wiring, cooling shrouds, marked the hood to chop it out for a vent... Spent a few weekends tracking down a datsun z for dad. Finally found one, and it should be a really nice little hillclimb car when we are done.

hey look! I did something... If its the third time the motor's been in and out of the car, Second head, second wiring harness second set of injectors, 3rd headgasket and only it's 6th oil change since being caged, does it still count as a first startup?

Al for as little as I've been using this ECU I should just let you borrow it for the turbo... Cracked into a Red Chair NWPA. Just put the kids down and I'm headed out to start sorting out the motor.

Not sure if facebook vids show up here...

Had to keep rpms down due to some oil pressure issues. Looking in to it...

The wife made me go ask all the neighbors first. Luckily they were supportive.

Also, who's butt do I have to smooch to be able to go back and edit old posts to fix the pictures?

Looks like the terrible things that I have unclogged from sink and shower drains.

AJ!!!!! what the fuck!
What is it and WHY is it...
Never even seen pick ups clogged like that in 300,000+ Slaabs and Volvos and Frods!!

Gawddammit dood. WHAT is it?

(I am trying to avoid sayin anything like "how did you miss it, so I'll keep it all vague and stuff, m'kay?)

How did this unfortunate thing happen all by itself/ (was that vague and blame-free enough? )

Easy. I didn't look. Pulled the top end off, Checked the bores. bottom end spun by hand, no glitter in the oil.... Why look? BTW that isn't sludge John. It's melted plastic

It's a plastic shroud that goes around the pickup tube, and it got..... melty.

I told you I got the oil nice and hot at idaho...

Entered Mendocino with Mr Staidle. long tow but he's talked me into it.

Car drives great, been playing with it, doing errands in it, driving it just for the fun of it. Behaves well and coolant temps seem under control. Gonna go thrash it hard this weekend and make sure it stays cool in the 100 degree temps we've been getting.

Let a buddy drive it and he made it 150 yards and to the second corner before testing my skid plate by launching it out into a wheat field. All tests passed.
