The cage is sitting down too. We haven't lifted it up yet.

The caliper carrier is for XR4X4 rear caliper and discs. Haven't gotten any of them yet though. John?

The rear STA's brackets are about half a centimeter lower than the stock mount and give about a mm of clearance between spring and body.

Sunroof patch is made but not in as it was easier to weld without it. It's sitting under the welding masks.

Rear windows are cut out but I'm just going to have the Keeney's finish them when it gets painted in January-February timeframe.

Cossie wing, arches, skirts, grill, and bumper will be painted with it.

Welded diff is still in, replaced the STA bushings with nylon ones.

Both halfshafts need rebuilt.

Once cage is done going to run new rear brake lines inside the car. Also will turn around the car to put in aluminum thick core radiator, oil cooler, ps cooler, intercooler, tubular exhaust manifold, 3 in downpipe, bailey header tank and swirl pot, bailey dump valve, dual master brake balance bar, and run the front brake lines.

Have to go pick up a bunch of Lexan on Wednesday. Progress is slowing though as we have two Subaru cages to do and I'm broke until January. Have plenty to work on until then though.

Nice progress! :-) I'm a bit behind, but might catch up over the next couple of months! :-)

Cheers! John

More progress pics. Plus some of Steve's new Subaru. It's an Open class with EJ22T with stock WRX turbo on a custom uppipe that is really sweet where we lifted the turbo up above the intake manifold. Also has a custom big front mount intercooler.

My car is coming slowly. Bar or two per day lately. Just got done tearing out the AC and accidently the fan blower box as well. Already have a plan for fan figured out though. The most useful tool for getting out was the sledgehammer so the stock on is not in the slightest bit replaceable.

Also a pic of Steve fitting a bar in his car, the Merk in the background, and AJ hanging out.

No new progress but lots of money going out this week and once I get back from Vegas the new welder should be here so I can finish the cage. Went and bought a chop saw yesterday so I can finish profiling bars and then I'll just have a bunch of welding left to do. Get rear suspension on, rear brakes one, flip the car around, and start under the hood. What fun.

Mostly finished cage. Still needs one bar for Rally-America/FIA rules, but running low on steel so going to wait a bit on it.

Vin Diesel approved.

It's still short the two door Xs that will eventually be added. And I did a V in the roof so that is one less X. But okay, it's still going to be considered excessive by most people.

The lower X is the radical one that you don't see in the US. I couldn't do the rear stay to lower foot of the main hoop without modifying the wheel well and I've always liked the lower X design. In a side impact at the B pillar, in order for it to move much it now is reinforced in multiple directions/angles. And I really don't care about the weight of the cage. I think safety equipment is not the place to worry about weight. The savings in rotational mass with the rear brake upgrade will nearly negate any added weight from the extra cage.

Oh yeah, and just to show how much of an idiot I am, I'm not reinforcing the front shock towers right away, nor am I seam welding. But I'm starting a second shell that I will do all of that on. Maybe.
