Well the 6 units ordered already are "kind of" spoken for, kinda. Deposits have been recieved for some and are supposedly on the way for the others... But that's no bigee. Just send a deposit and you're on the list. I supply stuff ready to open the box and throw it on---usually.. Springs and spacers like for the rear shock bottom included... Some cars, like the later BMWs and Focus which have top mounts which are just a rubber bush and bonded steel sleeve with no bearing, they get top mounts with a big fat 7/8" spherical bearing. (7/8" is .875" and the "industry standard" for real gravel stuff is 22mm, that's .866" so I go inch cause its like 1/3 the cost for replacements ---we are privateers after all) On Golves to use the Subie top mounts you don't have to chop off the 'volcano', just drill 3 holes. Super easy---I wish it was always that easy.... As for the alternate final drive, nothing on the shelf, they're too expensive to just have laying around on the off-chance than maybe one day somebody wants good stuff...all my money is wrapped up in making tubes and spring seats and brake kit parts... I did have saved a Fleabay.de deal for second hand 4.67 or 4.63 but it disappeared from "meine ebay"... The words to look for is kurtze achseübersätzung or ''short axle translation'' 020 is ancient stuff nowdays, I wonder if its smarter to think of 02A. John - after going "on the list" what is the wait time for a full set-up, all four corners with springs and those subaru top mounts?
I hear you on the FD, i should have one in my hands after new years or so... As far as the 020, i am sticking with it for now since my kaaz diff is in it already and the box in general is in excellent shape. also, i have a fresh rebuilt 9A sitting in my garage and have another rebuild of an 020 waiting to be done. I bartered with a vw tranny specialist and got two fresh rebuilds in the exchange....one mentioned and waiting and one ready to be done when i get that 4.46 or better FD. I agree on the 02A....but, I am not worthy.......i am not good enough yet. |

The wait time all depends on Bilstein... And I have been trying to get ahead to mitigate their really sporadic delievery time.. But people keep ordering stuff so i never have anything on the shelf. However.. Of those 6 units i ordered before the boys had sent deposits, well first to the gate. You send a deposit and they rathchet down the list. You could get some of those..If they say "mid-November" and they follow thru, then maybe late Nov shipping from here. All depend on things out of my hands...I could promise, like some do, but I won't. that i can late use on something better, when the budget allows I would rather drive a slow car fast as a fast car slow! first rule of cars: get what makes you happy, your the one paying for it! |

I've done a big number of Golves "rebuild, re-do" the short things that everybody starts with, and seems everybody is happy...spacers removed, re-fresh, new lower tubes, spring seats and mod the tops for better top mount.. Do a search here. Someone posted up a 3-4-5 020 gearkit that turns an 020 with a factory 3.8ish final drive into a 115mph top speed close ratio box. Cheaper than any other gearset you can get and no need to buy a high (numeric) final drive setup that are naturally MORE fragile than the stock R&P. Even with a 4.24 or 446 R&P, the drops between gears is awful. The 3-4-5 kit fixes all the drops and overall drive ratios except the 1-2 drop which is not much of a problem. ____________________________________________________________- One.
