They said they're available in 7-9" stroke and they'd get 100 of them in initially

$249 per corner for the kit. Still need to machine the top and build mounting ears. Bob Norgard (sp) said he expects a call from JVAB any minute because he's been pestering him for months about these.

Let us all hope that inserts are:
a) available separately
b) actually measure 50mm body diameter*
c) we can order in lengths and travel useful

I think we all understand at this point that it is the internal piston in Bilsteins that are, or were numbered "B46" that are 46mm, but their smooth bodies are in fact 50mm, their threaded coilovers M52 or 52mm OD.

It was explained to me once why they call their 50mm things alternately "Two Inch" (50.8mm???) or "46mm when there is nothing a person can measure 46mm without tearing down the things.
I cannot remember the "explanation" or understand why they persisit..

Let us pray these are 50mm bodies, 14mm shafts..

I have 22 tubes already made for 50s.

They sound like a winner. JVL hit this on the head. I hope your wright.

9" is pretty close to your lengths arnt they? Im sure you could find a way to burn up 28mm maybe 2nd bump stop and move the ears up 28mm.

If you need shorter stroke you can pop them apart and put a limiting sleeve under the piston. It's really easy as long as you don't mess up the shin stack and can recharge the shock afterwards.

Well its always an interplay of the body length, shaft travel and what we NEED for installed Overall length.

I don't have much design freedom on production based cars.
Like: we can't just skootch the ears up on FWD and AWD cars because there are these nasty CV boots lurking usually less than 1/2' from the bottom of the strut.
We can't just make Sooooper long travel without knowing if the CV joints will tolerate it without being over angle-ated---and therefore blowing their poor brains out.

We'll soon see.

Remember boys, the whole 50s things weigh a good deal more.. and the larger diameter springs weight a LOT more and cause more mounting issues..
