Winter Makeover

back from the dead....Dave Clark breathed a little life into this project!

He cleaned up and reinforced the front core support, hung a new radiator and built front and rear bash plates! Thanks Dave....

Fancy new brake booster delete cleaned up the engine bay and gave me some space back.

OTR is next month!!

I like the skid plate mounting. Looks nice!

it's alive...well, almost. ECU, dash and main lights are powered up and I bumped the starter last night.

The E85 in the tank has been there since 2011, I'm guesing I need to drain it before trying to start it avoid fuel issues.

making progress daily: drained the tank last night, picked up some fresh E85 today and the shocks returned from Ireland today after a quick rebuild. Might try to start it tonight!

Hopefully I'll get some proper gravel wheels soon

Yes, unfortunately it is a thing, if you're 2wd and in Rally America National you need Maxxis tires.

Of course if the few teams bothering to enter the "Nationals" had some discipline and got together and ALL showed up with whatever they wanted to use, and simply refused to be coerced by this dumb rule and in clear language told the idiots who cooked up the dumb idea to cram thei tires up their asses, what could the morons do?

The ability to defer is based on the event itself. Unless they chose to offer the ability to defer again in Oregon, the only place you could get away with not using Maxxis was 100AW.

Looking around, there was no official bulletin about the tire requirement, only the press releases on the RA site. The only offical documentation from RA that mentions Maxxis is the event exception for 100AW, which can be found on the 100AW event page on the RA site. it's bollocks.

I'm no rules expert but if it's not in the RA rulebook, a published bulletin or in the event sups, it doesn't sound like a "requirement"....

There was some Press Rel;ease for immediate release! andf I think some Bulletin that was in the spam folder--got deleted..

As far as I recall it might have been mentioned on their Facespaced page.
I don't think there was a mention of what Ritchie paid Bill as an "inducement" to introduce the requirement...I did hear somebody was offered $1000. Personal check..

11 days to OTR and the struggle is real!

Wiring almost complete and still lots of parts in-bound. I picked up a new Hella LED bar...sweet little light bar in a Spot configuration. It's less than 2 pounds and should work well with another all around wide pattern LED bar.
