I'm very curious if those Yokos would work well in the mud and soft dirt of rallyX.

Tim.

That's what I'm keen to find out myself Tim. I think YES. hot smiley

all cut like that for ICE I think they would die in minutes on anything but ice and snow.

Those tires aren't cut - that's the way they come. I'm thinking about trying to cut a set of blizzaks to look like the yoko snows and see how they work. Both those tires would be a terrible choice as JVL's said on dirt and would probably die a quick death in mud as well. For budget mud tires, check out the Hankook I-Pike snow tire.

At a mud event, I've beat the Miata on those tires with my car on entirely the wrong Michelins.

So are they giving away too much traction surface?

My car came with a carbon fiber duck tail in the back seat. As far as I can tell it has never been installed though it is not in pristine condition as it has two scratches in the jell coat. I think I'll sell it but I don't know what it's worth. It only weighs 11lbs!

They only fit on the rear, and driving a RWD at low speeds in snot is... difficult. You have to kinda chuck the car at the corner and drive with the rear tires since the front tires don't do much other than pack up with crap and turn into slicks, no matter how aggressive the tread. Easy to wash out and/or spin depending on how you aimed the car.

I found that having enough power to keep the rear tires spinning and therefore clear *seems* to be enough. That and careful throttle modulation. And driving fast enough that the fronts don't pack up in the first place, which is one of those chicken and egg things.

One of 'em is usually faster than me, and the other one is really close now.

I had a early 911 come to my shop from the body shop with the rear lid latch jammed, the only way to get to it was through the grill opening. So you will need to get the grill off, but it bolts on from the bottom.... I don't remember exactly, but I think I got the 2 end bolts with a really long 1/4 extension from under the car, through a rubber plug in the engine tin, then lifted the corner and got the rest from the top. It took 3 hours or so. With the grill off, I unbolted the striker from the hood.

I would first try shifting the hood around with some plastic wedges while someone pulls the cable.

Those 2 brackets might be for AC lines.

New one from Getty is like $599 I think. I'll buy it off you for my 964 if it's a decent deal!

Let me know...

I held the pull open with a pair of plies and jiggled the deck lid. Popped right up. Seems to be adjusted correctly now.

All loaded up for the RallyCross tomorrow. I hope we get to run. Because the car was in pieces last week I didn't preregister so I am 2nd and my co-driver 4th on the wait list. Hopefully four people have too much to drink tonight and can't get out of bed in the morning.

Sorry about taking a while to get back to everyone about the duck tail. I was out all day Saturday racing our car and when I got home, late, I was overwhelmed by requests for more information, pictures and shipping quotes. As I can't respond to everyone I've posted the duck tail on eBay as they are good at this stuff and I'm not so. Here's the link:

if you have any questiuons let me know.
