Did Dave Clark build your tank shell too? I'm going to need to buy one of those at some point.

Whew, took grants suggestion and spun the mounts around. You were right, much thanks for pointing that out.

Anyway dropped the seat down a couple inches and now im a ok for room, and I wanted to drill a couple holes in these mounts I could drop it down further.

Heres a few photos to give a comparison from before, also one to show head room with a moto helmet on.

Heres a few photos

The rear seat bar, Would that interfere with a sill bar if you added one? Or would those be higher up?

Sill bar is usually right on top of the sill or close as you can weld 100%

I have sill bars, they are cut and fitted I just took them out for the ease of building the seat mounts. Zero interference. Well at least where I positioned my sill bars. You will be able to see soon enough.

That looks much better, and yeah the sill bar should be up on top of the sill, I bent it out a bit and stitch welded it to the pinch weld at the bottom of the door opening.

Drill away on the seat mounts, no reason not to. I run mounts that Derik Nelson made.

Robert, are you building a Volvo now too?
I have been using the IPD skid plate on the DD. Works well, decently cheap, and it for on perfectly the first time. It's not heavy enough for all out rally duty, but it could be easily reinforced. I can post up some pictures if you'd like.

I know you got it for cheap. But what is the plan? Recce car, rally car (still want your golf?!), winter beater? I'll post up some pictures of the IPD skid plate for ya. It's $140 new, and they can be reinforced if you wanted a more robust/rally style skidplate.

I just got the old turbo Volvo out on the streets. Boost is so much fun in that car!

What a horrible design.. "skid" plates are supposed to help protect the sump/erl pan by having nice angle to help slide over stuff, like rocks... that horrible thing presents a nice face to BASH RIGHT INTO things... Brilliant!

(ever seen anything like that on a real rally car?)

Din't stink so.

Main problem with these pans is they don't cover the sump! Just made to replace the plastic splash guard...

Yes yes I know. Not the best skid plate for all out rally use. I was suggesting that Robert could use it (or a reinforced one) for recce duty in his ovlov. I am not advocating using this for a rally skidplate. I used the term "rally style" for a reason. It's like most things "rally", well I guess it should have a Subaru logo on it somewhere for that.

Though you could probably hack it enough to make it work...
