June 21, 2007 01:18AM
Somebody in deepest darkest Nude Hampster is going to be very happy when he gets this in about 3 days:

It goes with these:

Had hours of fun designing and fabbing the fixed steering arms:

Bye Bye!!

Tomorrow, I get to work on a RSX fixed steering arm tobe welded on to the waiting tubes, more piccies to follow.

then its 2 Volvo 240s.

Ok John, Been lurking here forever, but never felt the need to join. I contacted you just over a year ago IIRC about suspension for my 90q... but never went anywhere with it due to lack of funds and no car built.

This looks an aweful lot like something for an Audi. Based on the strut mount... and the fact that you had to custom make a steering arm. Spill the beans!

haha... I've forgotten more than you know?! Well, thats possible... I'm young, still have a pretty good memory. winking smiley

Not sure if I'll be at NEFR; If I am it's to spectate, unless I get brought on as a service crew for someone. The ACP crew has changed up a bit since last year... with the new sponsors and new car... a few people have either left the team, or they just aren't needed.

Don't I know the first half of it!

They're spilled! I got a bunch of 50mm inserts and was thinking they'd be ideal for heavier or faster cars and was thinking of like John Lane out here with is very fast 240 Volvo V6,and the Czechish Audi guy we have out here Viktor Bartosek, and the guy Todd Lengelbacher in Oregon, but those guys seem to want to continue on with the smallest of short travel Bilstein inserts, and bend 2 or 3 per event.

Vittorio called and he had already swapped out the one piece things to the more conventional style and so aside from panicing for a while about the integral steering arm---the solution cam from getting photos of Acura RSX stuff with the goose-neck design, the laying out,and getting cut and bent then indexing them.

Are you anywhere near where it will be time for some suspenders?

John,

I though you were going with coarser threads for the 50mm stuff?

Any news on my spare 40mm tube? Still haven't received the bushings. Black Bear didn't improve the siuation oddly enough :-) I leave for BDC on Wed next week and really _need_ one solution or the other before then.

-Martin.

Yes and no... Just invested a bunch in a similar yet different setup... coilover conversion sleeve, modifying strut tubes to accept larget dia. bilstein inserts (from an Audi UrS4), and OE mounts converted to use sperical bearings up top. As of right now, the car is still in 'street mode'. Cage is a little while off (waiting till we finish building the shop... foundation is being poured tomorrow), 20v turbo engine is on its way in (once I strip that old beatup NA 10v out), and the subframe needs to be reinforced. (did quite the number on it running greencrew for BlackBear... just too thin of material for mounting the skidplate to... factor in the car sitting a bit low, and I bent a few things).

And my only problem now if I want to go to your struts... I need to convert the rear of my 90q to two-piece suspension. All of mine have been early-builds, so they are one solid piece like the rear on a 4000q.
