I'd like to fab an alignment tool for the Audi.

What BTDTs are out there?

Is the frame straight?

The last time I did my car myself, I just used chalk on the garage floor, string, and a level if I remember. Lots of measuring though..

Chaulk - that's interesting, never had thought of that.

I just fabbed something quick up. I had 2 extra 19mm sockets - bolted a flat piece of alum to them. I just need to put something on for measuring front to back - but this was good to measure toe.

The flat alum extends so that you can measure the front of the tire, then turn it 180 degrees and measure the backside.

I figure these will work in the field as well.

Thanks.

I've always had good success with a couple boards and a tape measure. The trick is to use two boards per side and measure off of the top one, so that the tire bulge doesn't affect things.

Don't forget to do your measurements on the ground after rolling the car back and forth a few feet.
