cage gussets in stock...
July 11, 2007 04:41PM
Apologies for this taking forever but there are finally cage gussets available for retail sale. I just shipped about 30 each of 90deg 1.5" and 1.75" to these folks. Not sure how many are spoken for due to back-orders. They intend to keep them in stock at all times and I can make more in a few days now that the tooling is sorted.

Are these only going to be available for 90 degree bends? I don't see anything else on the site.

For now only in 90 degree. There was some discussion about other angles but they want to see what the sales volume is before they order anything else. I can make you a template to trim them to other angles if you like. I already posted a 1.5" x 100deg one but here it is again. It will print on a normal 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper...then just trim it out and transfer to the metal.

By popular demand...same rules apply. I'll try to get to the 30deg for you this weekend chris.

dimple/flare?

Tim, What tool are you using for the dimple/flare on the hole?

And I recall you posting a tool concept for those who wanted to bend their own gussets... under/oversized half-pieces of tube I believe. But I can't find it... can you post details if this was you?

I think that post was by Grant but here is what you are looking for:

Or here:

The Light Racing tool actually has the best shape to the flare and a longer pilot which makes them easier to use.

Tim

edit:
I actually do my punching and flaring in the turret punch now...while I cut out the shape. With this up-forming flare tool that I made. It does about 200 holes per minute :-)
