It'd be a lot easier for me if there was a good platform to put a sbc in

I've got most of a volvo 240 you could put one in. Throw some volvo penta valve covers on and no one would know its not supposed to be there.

I don't want to be sleeping in it. I'm going to build this rustang and see how that goes.

Where would one get the weld in 4 link mounts to cut into the floor?

Are you not a Faster Mabricator?

Mabricate them!

It's just a 4-sided rectangular box (well, kinda rectumangular).

Exactly why I asked. Figured there was a stack of them on a shelf somewhere made to precision measurements.

Thanks for the link. I was looking for that pic and couldn't remember where it was.

Edit: and not really sure how much is taper is needed.

From JVL on that thread. "Next, we found in a real live CAD dealio that we could move around a axle and shafts and links that in the FULL UP on the one side, and FULL DROOP on the other, the links will contact the sides of the boxes, so we made the boxes taper somewhat.."

A guy could do a better and easier box by making it in several parts: a top that is made of a bit heftier stuff like 090 or 13g with sides bent down.
Then a front part out of the same which overlays the thin 16g sides so the front, the stressed part is doubled..
That top goes on like a shoe box top overlapping the sides so that the weld is the easiest and cleanest simple lap..

Under the car once happy take your Sharpie and trace a line on the excess part sticking down tracing along the floor as it goes woooo wooo up and down

Then go to the bench and drill some 1/16 or .080 holes every so often, more where there are curves. Now when you reinstall and want to bend over the excess the sheetmetal wants to bend along the perforations--the dotted line. Bend, tack a little, and hammer flat, so once again you have a overlapping--a simple bead on the edge and you're done..Don't really have to do continuous... 1/2" skip a 1" or so, weld 1/2"....

Drill, Skil saw, Sharpie, hammer, table edge.. easy stuff...
And

Don't overlook the towers/turrets....Easy to do and instant decent travel of 9-9.3"...

I know of a 65 notchback that you could pick up in AL for $1500. Could make an FIA replica.
