Wow that looks bad ^^^ I thought we had bad rust in Minnesota...

My mk3 beam has an internal sway bar and external aftermarket sway bar. I think the NA mk2 gti's/gli's had sway bars most the other mk2's did not.

Mk3 beam is almost an inch wider also. I upgraded on my MK2 and do not regret. It has integrated sway btw. I also use delrin type material for beam bushings, muuuuch easier to service in a hurry (buy a spare set).

Like danster said, there are many different widths of the mk3 beams. Mine is an inch wider as well but some have measured smaller, wider and the same.

Where are you sourcing the delrin bushings from?

I did not have good luck with delrin bushings in the rear. I only had them on for a few events, they seemed to "lock up" the rear and caused a lot of snap oversteer. And when I took them off, the front side was already worn down a good 1/2" from gravel spray.

And I pretty consistently noticed increasing toe-out on both MK2 and MK3 axles, didn't seem to make much difference if they were reinforced or not.

I had a very similar experience as Chad. Delrin bushings in the rear beam made the car very twitchy. I keep replacing them with stock ones, but have toyed with the idea of spherical bearings.

mk3 bushings are bigger and might be better.

Ahh. Good to know. I have stock mk3 bushings filled with polyurethane. I filled them when they were new, no problems as of yet but always curious what other people are running. Probably about 20 days stages on them.
