All of their "longer rod means lighter piston and.....less angulation blah blah" is what I've been doing in builds on Saabs and Opels and now Volvos only much bigger gains. Over 500g lighter per hole wakes up those old Volvo tractor engines.. But its for Volvos, who would want to drive an old Volvo....especially when organisers would prefer people to buy new cars. Hey Gene, what's with this snide bullshit? You like the BMWs , I don't see the point of a 6 when 4 will do.. All that "interesting" info is nothing new--all discussed to death here and elsewhere for decades.. I just thought it was FUNNY that this place--infamous for insane prices as one expects from a BMW shop---was all excited about saving 150g here-- there ,
when I've been doing that only much much moreso for decades, and what the fuck Gene. You know it would seem that if you gave a shit about entries and retention of people in the sport, you would be saying nice about somebody making good solid stuff for the ordinary club type folks RATHER THAN YOUR CONSTANT SHITTING ALL OVER ANYTHING I MAKE AND DO. YOU are not making any anything to help guys have more reliable engines, more fun engines, better clutches, flywheels, better brakes, better gearing choices, stronger diffs for more reliability, or better suspension that works.. Why criticise constantly somebody who is at least trying? John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! Seriously John, grow up. You're the king of snide, lying , mis-represtation, dead horse beating and trolling. Don't act like the world is crapping on your door step and you just don't know why. You do an amazing job of working with little or nothing to make something. You lack greatly in social skills and the ability to produce parts in an aceptable time frame, some days. You only think your vision is correct and all others are flawed. So you just keep building your stuff, I'll keep doing what i do. We are on different paths but walking in the same direction ultimately. If you want to replace the very large and generous donation that All Star Ford gives us for the worker banquet then please state so now. Our sport needs a constant influx of new competitors . You wrongly assume that only poor people are interested and that anyone who makes a large income and can afford more or newer is evil, trustafarian is the word you frequently use when attacking to make people instantly defensive. A nearly new Ford with 6000 miles is not really anymore expensive than a 30 year old VW. Recognize that. There is huge value in driving something 'commercially' modern. New engine, new transmission, new heater motor, new wiring harness, new glass, new window regulators, tons of new parts to be sold off, current parts with value. There is a greatly increased chance of sponsorship. I had parts store, local tavern, Les Schwab Tires and Toyo as well as corporate money from Hamms beer back in the day. A little effort but I rallied pretty much on someone elses dime. My cars were clean, painted, fast enough and not old and neglected. Tain't that hard. Would I build a new Fiesta? No, not for me. Would I build an old VW? Hell no, really not for me. I would consider a BMW or Mustang. I can easily afford whatever I wanted. The results from rally aren't really tangible and typically reserved for only a small percentage. The real reward is the fun. Going fast, making life long friends, driving a car that appeals to the owner. However 'wrong' and twisted that seems to you. Rally isn't only your dream and ideals, it is all of us. I spend hundreds of hours a year working on this for the competitor, not for profit. Kieth does similar work. The poorest ralliest around is currently running a large aluminum skid plate I gave him. He also has the loan of my odos. No strings. You quit assuming that someone who wants more or different is a personal rejection of you and the world will be a much better place. You post like a total ass, bully, lie, twist words, bring up old stuff from other forums and generally pound on people you don't like or agree with until they just go silent. That doesn't make you a winner. You're not like that in person, why go out of your way to be such a dick online? Your formula of old Volvo or Merkurs isn't the only answer. Where is Grant? Where are the other dozen Merkur builds? Where are all the Volvos? (we know Al is still fixing his gravity overdose) but the others? Nada. Look at the entry lists. No big influx of those cars now that they are 30 and 40 years old. Way more Foci and Festers. There is a place for all of them (That place is Olympus btw and the Cascadia Championship). Balls in your court old friend. |
