need suspension for xr4ti

Well, I picked up an xr4ti for a street/play car and now I have some upgrades to start on. The suspension is all stock and worn out so I need to upgrade to something better. I have searched around and can see that mabe I can upgrade the springs by 30% or so but I have no idea what came from the factory. I would like to mabe upgrade to a coilover setup but have no idea what kind of spring rates to go with. This is for a street/gravel set up. Any thoughts?

If you want extremely oversprung, underdamped "boy racer if its absurdly stiff, well beyond what Ford used for tarmac rally in spring rates while using street Konis or KYB" stuff.

Here's what it looks like in the -1" version rear:

And front -1" version:

This was delivered 2 weeks ago to a guy in Chicago.

Hey Matt, did you get the spherical bearing top mounts way back?

Yep, they are on the car and performing well and well tested. I need to call you about alt/PS brackets this weekend and a few other bits.

I also need to talk to you about the possibility of some JVAB spherical bearing tops mounts for a gen1 eclipse for a friend.

I love my JVAB stuff. There is no better alternative for suspension currently available for the Merkur, unless you want to spend the big bucks (think in excess of $5000). Doesn't matter gravel, tarmac, or street use.

I agree, I have the gravel spec stuff in my street car and its great. I drive it daily its hard but not bounce your mind out hard. Great deal for the quality and how it transformed the car.
