Supra Diff in Xratty - breakaway torque

I will chime in. Take the diff apart and stack the frictios correctly, and run the 250lb kit. I was super agro at first, but after it broke in it settled down, and is perfectly fine in normal driving.

Never broke a cv, and never used anything but good OEM ones. Avoid the "New" ones like the plague. Loose stock ones are better. Clean them up and put a new boot on them .

4.3 with rally tires seems perfect to me..

Does anyone know the plunge in the CVs when it is the least (near horizontal) and greatest (full droop)?

I'd like to add a locating ring to the inboard side of the CV converters, and then drill out the holes slightly for added clearance. I could also just drill out the mounting holes slightly so the studs pass right on through without any drama (more chances of wobbly CVs though).

Reason for all of this: They suck to remove unless you have hammer and a pry bar.

Somehow everybody elese worldwide can live without this..
The Supra diff is 40mm narrower than the Ford diff, thus the spacers are 20mm each and things are just like normal..
Look into something else.. Like 2 long side ones or something..

Thanks John. I'm just trying to make it so removal of the adapters doesn't involve a hammer and a pry bar as stated above.

What the fuck are you removing the adaptors for?

They were intended to go on and stay on.
Removing the half shaft? Pull the normal bolts.

Swapping the diff, the old supra diff was not too happy. Every bearing was pitted and/or grooved, and there was about zero clutch material left on the plates. Large burrs on the tops of every tooth as well, enough to cut a nitrile glove.

Then you are changing nit in the garage or shop...and you cook up some brilliant plan to make a locating ring --dill out this and fuck around..because you don't have a pry bar and a hammer...
in the garage/shop...

And no suitable substitutes like an old screw driver and a brick...




Anybody ever check for any oil in the thing?
