Oh and plan your grounds now! not after the engine is in. Really hard to clean a nice looking bare metal spot in all your fresh paint when the motor is in the way.

Been a while since I have updated this page. Alot of progress has been made. Drive train is in. Engine is overhauled and ready to go back in. Seat mounting points installed. Brake Lines are in and so is the happy brake. Dashboard Flocked. OMP installed, also picked up an RJS harness.

Going with a Garrett 2871R stock placement with an AMR hard inlet. Still going to run the EWG setup I just have to plumb it back in to the downpipe. I plan on vbanded from the DP back to make it simple to rip off if need be.

Also am going to get protuned on accessport to change maps on the fly oif need be. Mainly E85 to pump switching depending on fuel available.

So after much debate with myself I am questioning to go ahead and use the GT2871R. I feel its too big for the 2Liter and the restrictor will make it a slob for boost!!! Arrrhhhh!

Exhaust has been fabbed up with some v bands for ease of removal. EWG plumbed back into the DP. Cat at the rear!!

Finally sourced a VF48 with the WG already welded, so that save me like 10 minutes of time!!!

Also having a custom 34mm restrictor made locally. Similar to this but for a VF48! Thanks to Vittorio Bares for lending me the design!

The 2871 would be a dog on this car. Not to mention I would be forced to go rotated. Which of course I want to do but budget isnt there at this point. What Budget.....

Sure seems like a continuous radius approaching the 34mm part would be better than a straight angled approach..

This maybe is clearer:

John, I love that you used the drawing of the illegal Toyota restrictor to make things more clear. grinning smiley grinning smiley grinning smiley

Funny. Actually the red circles in the drawing is one of the aspects we are going to change. We are in fact gonna lose the sharp edges and mellow them out for a little better flow or at least less abrupt flow.

tee heee. Good piccie iddnit?

Too bad the illiterates who make all the rules can't have the same sense that a bunch of beer-sodden, Australians had a couple of yeas ago and simply give people choice: pump gas and no restrictor, or in with a penny into FIA in with a pound, thus restrictor and full group N rules including FIA Spec Fuel. It was only 15 euro/liter last I heard.

They tested both and saw no difference in anything so logically0----even considering they were probably stumbling drunk---as they always are---figured "If no difference then what the fuck is the point?"
Best Practices.

Other countries have gone to large restrictions for National cars...but OUR rulesmakers know EVERYTHING...Amazing that the rest of the world can wipe their bums without our boys telling them just how perfect they could do the same job.

Rob,
Have you looked in to advancing your cam timing? BC makes adjustable cam gears or Crawford makes an adjustable timing belt roller. You can tune your powerband to fall right when the restrictor chokes around 5250. Look into it. Well worth it. Often overlooked.
