A HDPE Flywheel probably won't work as well aluminum....not by much but probably it is a little weaker at elevated temps than an aluminum flywheel which looses strength at temps about 450F..

(There is a reason no serious car -----or more accurately no serious car OWNER ever uses aluminum for flywheels once they reflect on the loss of strength as temps rise..
And clutches can get past 700F...Scary....Amazing more don't fail.. And worse still is how the little THIN steel faces want to curl up like a bowl as temp rises IF they don't have slits...)

I bought from a local piedmont plastics. Their prices arent too bad for full sheets. 1/8" HDPE for underbody. 1/8" LDPE for wheel wells or things that need a decent amount of bend to them.

This is what I used. Oooo and it also meet the USDA safety guidlines for food prep. That is good information for under body protection.

Yeah, you can get some bend with the gun but depends on how much you need. I'd keep the stock wheel liners if they work, but some cars with rally tires tends to eat the stock ones.

Yeah, gravel tires certainly eat up the stock wheel well liners, which I'm now adding to my list for the rears, but if you look on ebay they have a rubberized woven material liner that doesn't wear too quickly. I used the ebay liner on the front left and an oem on the right and I'm about to have to replace the right one.

I have not had any issues with the fronts on my rally car. I did have a couple of the plastic fasteners fail. So put in weld nuts and bolts and they should stay off the front tires.

Rears are all about track width. If I ran spacers it would contact the rear liners. No spacers and they would last.

I don't know which pictures were uploaded but we've got the new flywheel and the clutch in, also have the trans starting to get on. Tomorrow it should be finished then we'll test drive it, get it around the parking lot a few times then right back into the shop for the engine work. Hopefully I can get the plasma cutter down there to cut out the wells to fit Johns massive rears.

So car is back in the garage for prep, I'm hoping to make it to rally Florida in December.
Johns suspension is finally at all four corners of the car! By the end of the week the car should be in pieces for engine parts.
(Johns suspension went in very well although it is too tall for my car)
