Kevlar supplier suggestions needed
June 02, 2014 02:31PM
Hi Guys,

I am getting ready at trying my hand at making some double throw down race car parts and I need (okay, not need so much as want) some kevlar.

As budget is always a concern, does anyone know of an economical place to buy Kevlar?

I have bought from Aircraft Spruce before, Just hoping for better prices

Thanks
Brad

Ebay. You can get a surprisingly large amount of dry (and pre-preg!) fabrics on there.
Or head to your nearest airport and start asking around.

Find the local marine supply firm that sells fiberglass, they will likely also sell kevlar.

In Seattle it is Fiberlay but you appear to reside on the other side of the country.

In the long run reality always wins.

Thanks Guys,

It looks like US Composites has the best deals. Now I just have to figure out which one is the best for my application.

it seems like tighter weave = more strength, less conformable
Loose weave = Less strength, more conformable.

Thanks

Double the price of UScomposite, but hey they do have cool instructional videos.

Brad, get the looser weave to get better results laying it up, and just add another 1 or 2 layers to get the strength.

When are you thinking of doing this?
