Adjusting ride height on JVAB?
June 21, 2014 05:08PM
Is there a way to adjust ride height on JVAB 50mm's? The rear is good but the front is sitting really high even after a couple rally's. It doesn't have an adjustable lower body, so the only thing I was thinking would be to play with the springs. I'm running a 275 in the front I'm pretty sure. If I went to a longer spring, would it compress more before settling compared to a shorter one?

Matt, why don't you just call John and ask him. You can find his number on most threads here.

Yes, it's a Ranger.
Xr4Ti, it is rwd and was made in Germany.

Gene, gene, Gene,
Don'tca think that is a bit uncalled for?
Truth of the matter is that the JVAB suspenders aren't a bad strut an usually any fitment issues are 'first run' things that are 'made right.' I don't know if Matt bought these new from John, or if he sourced a used set, but the answer should be a quick phone call away to the JVAB intergalactic HQ.

In the mean time Matt:
Spring rates and lengths aren't really about ride height... depending on your source for the struts I'd either leave that alone - if bought new - or get them back to spec if sourced used.

I'd expect the struts to have a threaded body with adjustable spring perches... which is how you adjust ride height. (seems basic, but...) You'll want to be a bit careful and if at all possible corner weight your car to make sure the ride height is the same AND the balacne on the road is even. (if the car is tweaked, then putting the spring perches at the same 'height' on the strut body won't always give you a balanced stance.)

From your in-car I saw from Radium, you might be a bit stiff in the front-end, but you also have a LOT to learn about weight transfer... (the two can be related sometimes)

I'm sorry (head hanging in shame...smoking smiley )

Spring stiffness and height are two different hings. A taller spring wiht a 275 rating will just make your car even higher. A longer spring with a lighter rating say 175 might lower it. Anyway..honestly..don't be messing with it until John says so. He'll get it corrected a lot faster than messing about with guesswork.
