Would that cage even pass though? Somethin' just doesn't look right. It appears as though the cage is pushed back a foot from where it should be.

I know that cage was part of his "rally car in a box" thing he was trying. I can't remember the name of the company that did it, but it was a company that has done cages for years. As for placement, I'm sure it was just to clear the dash, which may not always be the best.

Says AutoPower in the ad. Is this the same 'rally car in a box' kit that SafeDrives was (is?) selling?

Well it wasn't so much as "here is a car ready to go" it was a "here are the parts you will need to go, some assemble required".

This was just a way to show the cage he was pushing actually in a car. It was supposed to meet the requirements for RA and NASA.

And I would go with "was".

There are several cars running that cage kit that have passed tech. It isn't wonderful but does meet the rules in most installations. It was a bit of a universal kit for home installs. The little bit shorter front legs were designed to clear the stock dash, something most pros wouldn't do. It was a viable option but not the fit most of us have grown accustomed to.
