GC Impreza builder
February 02, 2015 09:20AM
So we did one of these before and the guy has now done a few events and is pretty stoked on it I think. I know I had a few messages asking for the next time we had one to let them know but I can't seem to find any.
The car is a mid 90s 2.2L GC Impreza. Stock, runs and drives though probably needs a bit of maintenance, burns a bit of oil, but otherwise runs okay. Shell has a little surface rust in usual areas but nothing structural. Bit of hail damage on roof, truck, and hood.
$4k with a Rally America/NRS spec roll cage. We strip the interior, remove sound deadening/tar sheets, add roll cage, refit the dash, and send the car off. We have a loaner bolt in seat bracket and Sabelt harnesses that you could use to drive the car home if you so desired, you just provide the seat.
Further spec than a caged driving builder available if you are looking for a more turn key rally car. We also sell seats, harnesses, and more to help your build along.

Great idea!

Sounds like an excellent deal-are you planning any 2wd cars to cage up and sell in a similar fashion?

Four door.
We do have a Compact with a holed engine that was going to be a shop car/development car. It could probably become a caged shell for sale for the right price. Though I really like the idea of putting an LS2 into it since I'm not likely doing much competing for few years outside of hill climbs. smiling smiley

That sounds fun..I wonder what the weight balance would be like- comparing the V8 swap to the six cylinder swap..seems like the LS might actually be better balanced....

Running and caged 325i for $4k.
Tentatively sold though.
The Compact we could do same thing but at $5k. Bad engine but has upgraded suspension, camber plates, wheel studs, and few other upgrades.

This is a great idea, you are dealing with the most complicated part of any build in my opinion. And the fact it's a runner and driver tops it off. Keep it up!!

The wife of the owner of this Impreza wants to donate it to NPR instead so really hoping we get a potential buyer before then.

surprised this hasn't sold yet. just got put back two months after talking with the fabricators about "when" (it was supposed to go in january) if you're considering and serious you should jump on the opportunity no coast is presenting here. building or doing the car you want can be a lengthy wait. i would scoop this if reg ing a car in alberta was 't such a fucking hassel.

glass half full of this story besides No coast's obvious auality is a late model stock car racer put me in contact with a fabricator who says i can work on my car under hos supervision (i went to the bathroom and spanked it as soon as i got off the phone) funny how the world works when you're serious and apply yourself..
