RMA is now the US Distributor for Custom Cages

It's official! RMA is now the US Distributor for Custom Cages. Based out of the UK, Custom Cages is a major designer, developer and manufacturer of FIA certified prefabricated roll cages for a wide variety of vehicles around the world. We will be stocking both their T45 alloy and CDS steel cages here in our Colorado warehouse. And since we are a Custom Cages Official Fitting Centre we can install your cage too. from what I understand, we can not use the T45 unless the homologation is current.

Custom Cages are eligible for FIA or MSA certification. See below - excerpt from: http://www.customcages.co.uk/roll-cages/upload-dvd-sample.

To compete in any race or rally your roll cage will need to comply with either MSA or FIA regulations. (Effectively, the MSA is governed by the FIA so if a roll cage design complies with FIA regs, then it is also eligible for MSA events). There are some instances where the FIA allow certain design features where the MSA do not (and vice versa).

A roll cage design must comply with the MSA/FIA technical regulations published in the MSA Blue book. It is the competitor's responsibility to ensure his/her roll cage complies with the technical regulations appropriate to the event they are competing in.

The certification process generally allows for a lighter roll cage because it is a bespoke design where the diameter and thickness of each tube is optimised to achieve the overall strength required by the FIA/MSA rules.

In order to compete in MSA/FIA events every vehicle, which has a certificated design of roll cage, should have a copy of a valid certificate to present at scrutineering. Custom Cages has certified the majority of popular roll cages. All other roll cages comply with MSA/FIA regulations and receive a Roll Over Protection System Description (ROPSD) for competitors to present to scrutineers.

right. and since we are talking about rally, i was told we can't use the T45. Can they do CDS instead of T45 for models not listed as such?

Most people tend to go with option 3 below. But 1-3 are all options for a NASA car.

1 Roll Cage Choice of Specifications
Roll cages are mandatory for all vehicles. Several specifications for rollcages may be used:
1 An FIA approved roll cage (with either FIA homologation certificates or ASN homologation certificates). The
homologation of any such rollcage must be current with the date of logbook issue. Cages for cars competing in
FIA rally classes must use a homologated cage correct for the FIA class. Cages falling into this category must
exactly meet their FIA specifications, be unmodified from those specifications, and are not subject to the
remainder of the rules in this appendix.
2 Rollcages built to the FIA specification Article 253, Appendix J.
3 Cages built to the NASA Rally Sport specifications listed below.
Alternately, if the vehicle is presenting under alternate technical regulations as per GRR 3.8.14, consult the
appropriate documents.
