Can this bad boy tune a stock ECU as is, or do you have to buy tuning "credits"?

Yes, we used it on our 2002 Focus SVT. No credits needed.

Definitely interested. I just need to see if it will work with the Ford Motorsports 2.0 Ecoboost ECU. It would be really nice to dial back the boost at lower rpms.
The tuning software isn't too expensive either, so that's nice!
