Rally Car:
Escort Cosworth ie:the only one that runs!

Barn Sale

I guess this is what happens when someone just goes out of control. I used to know a lot of people in the rally community but have since been out of it and probably don't expect to return anytime soon, I think, I'm still eyeing the Targa Newf, but I better stop there. I tried putting this on Bring a trailer but after they said they really wanted to do it and I was willing to pay there $250 ad, they blew me off. It's not like I didn't try, I e-mailed them numerous times over the last few weeks to give them the money. I guess they have so much they don't want the business, or they might be just to high society for my hillbilly hardware, who knows. I didn't have a clue on where to put this so I thought I would try here. So I'm not sure anybody would be interested in anything here, it is all except for a few which are rally based. I have a bunch of photo's on dropbox.com but couldn't figure out how to link them here. If I had a welder and a plasma I can make anything fit but not with this, Doh!! So if you see anything interesting shoot me a e-mail and I will get you a few photo's to see if you even want to pursue it.

1: Ford Escort Cosworth track-day car. This is a LHD escort tarmac rally car that was made into a track day car. That means all the rally bits have been taken off and a non-restricted turbo was put on the motor. It is a super clean shell that appears never to of been on it's roof. It has a OMP FIA bolt in multi point cage that was welded in to the chassis at a few places. It has a small turbo motor that has been retrofitted with the large sierra turbo and weber-marelli injection system. The suspension is a full group-n tarmac set up with motor-sport dampers, yes the rear dampers are magnesium . It has light weight bumpers , momo seats and out of date belts. I got this car and never did anything with it and has been sitting for 6 years so it runs a little rough (rich) but I'm just too burnt out to mess with it. $23,500

2: This is a 1997 Subaru impreza built into a V3 STI “street fighter” The drive train was from a GF8 jdm sti with 67k km on it and it is awesome if all you want is a stealth rocket ship. The front end has all the jdm bits on it with no hokey after market dress up crap, heck I put the small wing on it to break up the lines a little but it won't draw attention. I also fitted all of the brakes from the GF8 sti and the gearbox is short ratio with lsd's all around. It probably has a max speed of 130 mph but man does it get there fast. The original GF8 sti did 0-60 in the old tuner mags in 4.9 s but this is built from a strippo hoopdee GC8. It has no sunroof, manual windows, side mirror delete, and a carpet so thin cardboard would consider a weight watchers program. So it probably weighs about 3-400 pounds less and also has a “Mines” after market ecu the makes it a no nonsense brawler. All I know is this has to go before I impale myself in a tree. $12,500

3: Ford sierra 3 door cosworth clone. This is a 1985 3 dr 2.0l ghia from the czech republic that has a full ybb cosworth engine set up with cossy T5 box and cossy lsd rear end. The car runs and drives but like everything needs to be finished. I got really discouraged with this one because the person who sold me the shell said it was a beautiful rust free example that needed a drive train, well that lying sack of shit forgot to tell me the rear frame was completely rotted. So I fixed the frame, yes I welded the inner and outer walls of the frame to make it strong and it is pretty stout. I then sandblasted under the car to get ready to por it and found out that the rockers were patched and skimmed over to hide it, at the same time my other escort came back from the body shop (see below). So I just gave up, the last straw had been reached. Now I'll show you everything wrong with this so you don't get screwed like me. Sorry this is from one of the people who is pushing me out of cars because anyone who lies this bad just turns me off of the hobby. The car also has a set of cosworth seats and glass factory roof which I consider big pluses for a road car. Oh , I'll throw in sheet metal from an xr to fix it. $13,500

4: 1991 Volkswagen Corrado TDI, yes a TDI that's actually running not just one that “ I'm building” projects. I built it using the G60 rado and a 98 jetta tdi, or basically DE-nobifying a jetta. In the process I built this as my daily driver which I did for a year and the last two fill ups were 49.7 mpg average, not bad for a sports coupe. Inside the car I got rid of the biggest complaints of rado owners. I installed euro belts and euro map trays. I got the cruise and a/c + climate control system to actually work correctly, it took a little while but works like it should. If you're asking why I'm selling this, I built another one, I know a disease but wtf. $6800

5: 1983 Mercedes 380 sl that's been in the family for 30 years. It has 180k on it and has been sitting for 10 years. It has the optional hardtop, the paint is excellent and when I started it up and ran like it never went into hibernation, smooth as can be. Not much to say except that the chains were up dated and before we put it away we did the heads because it started to smoke. The engine was basically rebuilt because of a score in the cylinder wall, it looked like something fell inside or one of the rings froze, don't know but it's fixed now but for sake of disclosure you should know. The interior is in ok condition, not perfect but not a toilet bowl either, I'd say it's better then average for the mileage. It still sounds like a vault closing when the door shuts plus it even still has the original windscreen and stereo which I consider not typical but better. $7500

6: Ford Escort Cosworth LHD in pieces, about 70% complete. This is a shell that I can't tell has ever been on it's roof and the cage is a full weld in cage built by Promax of England. I sent this one out also to get body work done and got it back the same time I discovered all the hidden rust on the 3 door. Well it is so bad that I kinda wanted to invent a sharia law for the botch job. I had new floors welded in because the pans were beat up pretty bad but the ones put in are worse, hence another person in the auto business that has made me so disgusted I want to just sell everything not to deal with it. I had this thing on my rotisserie , sand blasted clean to make it into a wicked nice hillclimber but as you can see the wind has lost the sails. What this comes with is a motor, tranny, rear lsd and stock suspension. If you need it as a roller so you can put it on a trailer that's no problem, I'll just throw some xr stuff on the rear because the cossy stuff is in too many pieces. I also have the dash, steering column, a wiring harness that was said to go with the car and a some other stuff if I can round it up and throw it in boxes for you. This is a project for sure but it's a real escort cossy for cheap money $13,900

7: 1977 Chevy Corvette with a 4 speed, honk-in motor, and a solid back bone. I got this one on trade for a tractor because I'm not much of an American car guy. I do have to admit I do think it's kinda a hoot to go up the driveway in though. This thing has a rebuilt V8, I think it's a 5.7 ltr , mad motor. It has aluminum heads, headers, high rise manifold, Holley 4 barrel, and dual (looks like 2 ½ but didn't measure it) exhaust with flow master mufflers. I was also told the rear end was also just rebuilt and have some of the old pieces from the rebuild that will come with the car. The only thing is when you step on the gas it's a handful to keep on the road, it just spins it's tires with out trying. The car is by no means a nice car as in a cosmetic sense. If you were going to make a race car, Daytona kit car or a boogy nights remake then this is the one!! $5500

8: 1991 Sierra Sapphire Cosworth shell. This is purportedly one of the last 5 sapphire RS cosworths built in Bourham UK at Ford Motor-sport. It was rallied on the club level in the UK by John Davenport and I bought it for parts for my escort rally car. It is a light weight tarmac shell in right hand drive It's a shell with nothing in it but I can probably put together enough junk parts to make something work for you on the cheap for not much money if you buy the shell. $2500

9: 1989 Merkur Xr4Ti road warrior tribute car. I built this one for just giggles and boy does it get attention. I guess it is right at home being a moonshine runner also. I built it out of 5 cars and sprayed it in flat black back when it wasn't fashionable. I kept the car pretty much stock horsepower because I wanted it to at least work. Plus I don't have much experience with the eecv4, blah blah whatever it's called injection systems and didn't want to muck it up . I did put a rapido intercooler and used the biggest radiator I could fit in the car from a Mercedes so the potential is there to make it rip. The base car is a 80k super solid car in terms of rust. The grill and wing are glass and I will knock a good chunk off if you don't want them or the hood. I have the original style ones for it that will go with it instead.. The stereo is pretty good but I'm keeping the ac/dc back in black cd that I always leave in there when I lend it to people, it's the ambiance factor. $4400

10: 1987 Porsche 951 (944 turbo) with 51k original miles. This was a barn find that I got because it had been sitting in the back of a guys barn for years. The reason it was there was that it had the timing belt broke, that's what I assume, and they never fixed it. I got it, bought a head and did everything to it. Flushed every fluid including the brakes/clutch, etc and replaced all the seals on the motor that could go. I made sure the pistons were perfect along with the walls of the block before I put it back together . It drives down the road like a new car. Oh, it has a LSD and leather and I'm not sure but I thought those were the only two real options you could order with everything else generally standard. The interior is wonderful and exterior is very good to excellent on it's original paint. If you're looking for a time capsule 951 then here you go. $12,500

11: 1961 series 2 Land Rover 109 chassis, older restoration but really fun to drive, at least if you're not going too far, top speed runs aren't it's specialty !! It has the 4 cylinder petrol motor with the weber carb update, galvanized frame, bonnet spare tire mount, safari roof, winch, and the list goes on. It's really holding up well with some places showing age. I have all the records and documentation, too much to list here but available when you come to check it out. Don't forget your ductari hat, it kinda screams to you that you should dress up in the right costume to drive it, just for fun!! $17,500

12: What you also see on the rotissari is a 1974 Volkswagen Thing, it's almost ready for paint. The pan has been done and suspension also been painted. It's waiting for color and a few minor things to start putting back together. This is your chance to get the “thing” of your dreams in the color you want with nothing hidden. Most of the time you'll get into a “rust free” project to find out the truth, just look above. Seeing how it is so open and discoverable you can see everything and this way you know what you're buying. Now there has been no mechanical work done, the engine ran great. Shifted well. Well as good as these things shift, stirring pancake batter is the best way to describe it. The only glaring mechanical bit will be the brakes, they were horrible at best, so good luck if you don't do something to make them better. $8500

Now for the cars that aren't in the barn. These are all the parts and projects that I don't have the desire to cope with.

1984 VW rabbit GTI some rust but not bad compared to what I've seen. I bought this car for a friend but he said he didn't want it so now I'm stuck getting rid of it. It has a motor but lots of pieces missing, no decent suspension and a major project for sure. I was going to turn this one into a tdi just to piss people off but it has to go also. $600 for the gti and if you want the tdi conversion (tdi+tranny+harness+etc) add another $1500 on top of it

1991 Audi coupe quattro rallycross project that a buddy wanted me to build for him but he lost interest and money to buy it. It's gutted with a 3b turbocharged motor. It runs and drives with 4 almost new rally tires ($800 if you went to buy them) , two mismatched race seats and not much more. $3500

Mazda 323 gtx crap boxes , have 3 but one has coilovers and would be cool to beat on but rusty the other two could be used for parts, missing drivetrains. Best offer

1982 diesel vw vanagon. Really rust free and pretty complete . Started messing about with it by putting a refurbished cylinder head on it but that's as far as it got. It ran but the pump has a govenor spring issue and won't idle down . It's a true “late to the game” hippy wagon for those hippies that started in the 80's . It is definitely late to the game and I mean SLOW, it took from 1982 to 1999 to get to sixty mph, it would do it faster but you would have to push it out of a airplane to make it happen. $2600

Some bits and pieces.
A 1985 3.7ltr White Hurricane diesel motor conversion w/turbo 350 automatic out of a bread van, sort of similar to the Cummins 4bt but I don't think as rugged. It would be great for a M37 conversion and I also have a 6.5 gm 700r4 4 speed that I would throw in for an extra $300 if you wanted another gear for cruising . $850 alone or $1150 for all of it.

A Group-A mazda GTX transmission in a few boxes. It's broken on the center dif planatary gears is what I was told but I never delved further. It looks like everything is there plus I have a bunch of small parts in un-opened mazda packages that came with it and they're yours also. I don't have a clue what this is worth but seeing how a cossy group-a box would set you back 10 grand in this condition I figured $2000 seeing how there are none around.

Wow.

It is a damn good thing you are halfway-across the country, and I don't have the time for a road-trip, or I'd be in a Pile O' Trouble.

(as it is, I already drove to NH once for an Iveco box-truck sight-unseen: spent 2 days getting it running, then drove it back to southwest Missouri...)

That Impreza will hit 100 in something like 1/8 mile. It's absurdly quick. I'm working with Chris to help with pics.

The 944 Turbo is a time capsule, if you know somebody in the market, the car is a screaming deal at that price.

So many cool toys here...

Well lets see if these work for links and 2 more photos that I hopefully got small enough to attach. I'll try and get more up as soon as I can. When my hard drive crashed awhile back it took everything but hopefully I'll be getting some more taken soon. Thanks for your patience.

Well I guess I'll play the bartender if you want any, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrew said I should go to CA, sort of like AA for car guys but with a 6 step, no 12 step, oh hell the 30 pack process to get off of the project freight-train. Crap let's just go for the Ted margarita night and no one will remember who bought what.

I completely understand, if you want it cool if you don't that's cool to. The van is gone to the crusher though. I still have all the rust free doors that I'm going to put on ebay eventually figuring somebody might want them.
