I’ve often wondered if a back-to-back TSD and Stage Rally event might be worthwhile considering. Let’s call it a RENDEZVOUS event: • Day 1 - One organizing group runs a 1-day 100 to 200 mile TSD designed to finish near the start of a Stage Rally. • Day 2 - A second organizing group runs a 1-day 40 to 80 mile Stage Rally. • A short Rallycross might (or might not) be conducted in between. • Competitors sign up for any one, or combination of events. • Organizers score each event individually, and agree on a formula for overall winner. • The overall Rendezvous Winner must run all events offered. The advantage I see is bringing now divergent rally interests together at the same time for mutual benefit. Overlapping interests and skills compliment each other. Everybody gets to play. Lots of low budget folks turn out. Might work pretty well for developing the Grassroots. Sometimes the Whole of a thing really can be greater than the Sum-of-its-Parts. What-da-ya-tink? yes, rally cross needs helmets, nope...no cages.

I'm just trying to get a few rally prepped cars to the 2-day rally cross event I'm running in August.....kind of a mini-parc ferme, so that the rally cross guys can see some REAL rally cars with logbooked cages and the like.

The Rally Festival idea is fantastic! TSD rally to get to the location. Rally cross at the sight and then also have the service park for the stage rally at the same place. Getting all three communities together would be good and an interesting party!

I would think that it will need to be a three day deal. Friday or Friday night for the TSD, Saturday for the rally cross/ start of the stage rally and then Sunday is all stages?

Throw in rally cross rides, free shwag, food and a place to sleep for the workers!!! They will deserve every bit of it! If you plan on running at night it will be a killer for the workers.

Can uncaged cars compete in rally cross? Would we need helmets? This could be a problem. Either way, put me down as the first entry! I'll bring my BBQ!

Yeah, that's the idea. More fun for everyone.

Talking with my wife, she thought a rally cross might actually be the central component to make it all work. The crossover point. She also thought referring to it as a Rally Festival would make it easier to explain the idea of several types of rallying coming together at the same place on the weekend.

I think most Stage Rally competitors wouldn't run the TSD. Only those with rallycars "streetable" enough to actually do it. Running both would be optional.

Running first, TSD ogranizers could start their group(s) wherever they wanted too; and arrive at the Stage Rally (with cars intact) one day ahead. Stage Rally competitors who also ran the TSD first would have a lot of extra fun AND be eligible for the overall Rendezvous Win. A little like when people actually used to rally there cars to special stages.

Well organized TSD's have their own sweep. So, service rigs for dual TSD/Stage Rally competitors could go ahead and be waiting for them at the Stage Rally.

The main idea is to get now divergent Rally groups to meet up at the same place on the same weekend. Giving more people more ways to play.... inexpensively.

Honestly, sounds like a sound idea.. but the biggest problem I see is getting the tsd part down.. people will be arriving from different directions.

However having a TSD rallly end near a stage rally is sound logic.

But seriously, there isn't nearly as much crossover between Stage Rally and TSD people as their might be. They're organized in separate groups of people now. And Rallycross is relatively new... often with it's own separate group of competitors.

- TSD teaches best about stamina, restraint, real codriving, and following directions (And partying.)
- Stage Rally demonstates intensity and high performance (And partying.)
- Rallycross new bloods benefit from exposure to TSD and Stage Rally (And partying!)

A Rendezvous combining these groups over one weekend could make quite a parade.
Each doing there own thing... and offering it to others.
