Hmm.. I'll probably kill softs out here.. First entry is projected to be Gorman in August, not a cool event @ all.
Anyone have thoughts on 175s on a 'poorly tuned' PGT WRX? I know the car doesn't have the a$$ for 205s, I've got a set about that size on it now.
185s 70 13s that should fit on 5.5 wheels, I think thats some of what John was saying ?

Lina, Unless you are upgrading your brakes and need a 14" rim to clear them.

STAY ON 13S !!! i ran 165 and 175 tires on a 13X5" rim .. the width never gave me any issues.

For racing, you always want the smallest rim that will clear your brakes, and the lightest rim that gives you enough strength to not break. I haven't read about you upgrading your brakes, so don't change your rim size.

Now if you have an amazing hookup on 14" alloy rims, but nothing for 13's You'de have a good reason to upsize. but 13s will be cheaper than 14s... give you more sidewall between your rim and a rock you hit, and it will have a smaller radius for the weight of the rim . (every so slightly better braking and acceleration ) probably a better OA diameter for your gearing/hp too

:awesome:

Of course all of Alex advice MUST be prefaced with one ionescapable fact: The brakes are the most powerful system in the car. Learning to use with control the most powerful system in the car OUGHT to be a high priority since braking, which requires JUDGEMENT, is, other thing not even being equal, the easiest way to gain a massive advantage.

Of course nobody will do this because they are all already ex-spurts.

In regard to 13" being cheaper, that is not so in the case of DMacks. I don't know of anyone else importing 13"s at this time but due to the low interest, stock levels will be much lower than the 14 and pricing similar.

Just wanted to let you guys know I'm making arrangements with Trackside Motorsports in Portland to offer tire support for the Oregon Trail Rally next month. If you are interested, get your order by April 20th and your tires will be waiting for you in Portland. Trackside is right up the street from the raceway and will be offering mounting service.

Supply of some sizes and compounds are running low so place your order soon!
I'm also finalizing this summer's stock order which will include tarmac tires! I'll be bringing in 13",15", 17" and 18", these should be a great option for Euro rallycross and hillclimb.

So hear are a few photos of the smaller tires we've got.

The first is of the 13" DMG1 tires (Garth Ankeny has requested our current stock but we will be bringing more in this summer)

Here are the 175-14" next to the 185-14" so you can see the difference in tread width.

Here is a 14" ice/snow tire (this is not the WRC tread pattern in the catalog). Unfortunately I don't have high hopes for this tire without propper studs but it could be a good starting point for ice racers and we do plan on experimenting with tractionizing to see if the compound will allow it. But we'll have to wait until next season as it's 80F today.
All tire pricing is on the website HERE Both of those sizes are $150. There are only a handful of 185/70-13" in this first shipment but plenty of 175-14".

You know, Justin we can all read what TIRE MFGs say on websites but if you are going to sell tires you may find it beneficial to find the underlying math, and to do that you might spend a few weeks comparing wheel sizes CAR MFGs have used and tire fitment , compare Northern Europe (ya know, where it rains and snows) to Southern Europe, then you can arrive at a %
Then do that over the decades.
Then compare car markets.: USA , EU.*

You'd see that OEMs would probably have a 4"-4 1/2" wide wheel with a 165/80 tire..

And you'd see the anomaly that USA consistently gets wider wheels and tires than anywhere else, and that tire MFGs always reccomend, always, alll of them, wider wheels than the car MFGs use...

Knowing that, not believing, but knowing that would help you answer inquiries better than "may be a bit wierd".

* Yeah of course i did all this crap I'm suggesting, I was always puzzled why US cars and owners always wanted wheels and tires about 1 to 2 "steps" bigger, wider than anywhere else even on stock power junk...
