As you all know by now, I am a fan of the 80's rally cars. Audi Coupes, Peugeot 205's, Mazda 323's, and Saabs, specifically. What I ended up finding was a good condition 88' 323 GTX.

The car is in good running condition, but needs some minor bodywork, and a basic Maaco paintjob, to be a daily driver.

It has the aftermarket front brake conversion, coilovers with camber plates, and a full turbo-back aluminized exhaust already on it. The previous owner also just installed a brand new fuel pump as well.

So once the rest of the upgrades to the GTI are done to be competitive next season, this will get new front fenders, a set of Compomotive or OZ alloys, and a new paint job. I was talking about doing a "wrong 240" car (Nissan 240sx) years ago. Right now kind of don't know exactly. Short term probably grass cone dodging and maybe rallysprint. I volunteered about a month ago at Rally Ready driving school's rallysprint in Austin and it was a huge win. Basically a stage rally but more compact. They had an epic super special loop setup too.

I graduated with AAS autotech at TSTC in Waco but now I am pursuing a mechanical engineering degree at UTA and am apart of their Formula SAE team. Fun stuff, a lot of work. I also crew chief for a WRL team...tons of fun.

My car is currently in shambles in a field an hour away but it's not as bad as could be. Currently I am massing parts in a 5x5 unit on my college student budget. Looking forward to graduation, actually getting into rally, and hopefully a career in motorsports.

From the film on the inside of the windshield, I figured it was the fairly notoriously leaky but easy to replace heater core, so I did that.

After that, the coolant disappearance increased if anything. Can't find any evidence of leaks anywhere in the system. Changed the oil last night, and after adding fresh oil, I found a little bit of coolant milkshake at the bottom of the dipstick.

Guess it's head gasket time...or Bars Leaks and prayer to the Norse gods. But I don't have a backup car right now (actually, it's locked in storage until spring and needs a new steering rack and power steering pump). So I would either a) have to drop more than the book value of the car to have a shop do the head and rent a car, b) DIY and rent a car for a week or three, c) buy another beater while DIY.

This is just a fun edit, she did in an hour or so. Eventually she will post the videos of all 6 of her runs, and all 6 of my runs; as well as all 6 of mine at normal speed per my request for training and playback purposes.

Disclaimer: This was sped up on purpose, for dramatic effect only. This was done to flow better with the music she used. Not to try to make us look faster than we were.
I haven't even seen the raw footage yet to see which one of us was driving.

local jobber, yeah um, (and this is not retail...) $236... WAAAA. Rock auto, $186, plus $30 to cross the NAFTA line...

I looked, but I can't find a rebuild kit... I'm not "in the industry"... but why the H3ll doesn't one exist... I mean I'm sure it's a friggin o ring right! I'm not paying $236 for an o ring...

I figure if I spend a season or two of RallyCross, eventually I will go to a RallySprint or two. That means learning how to read, edit, and write the notes.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. And if there is an idiots guide to rally notes, even better. A few weeks ago I stumbled on the IMSA channel on youtube, watched the first few hours of the 24 hours of Daytona 2016, and watched almost all of the 12 hours of Sebring.

During Daytona Katherine Legge in the Delta Wing car was kicking ass for the first hour or two, then some guy got in it and fell back a few positions, and eventually crashed the car.

Unless I missed something during Sebring Katherine Legge was doing well during the first stint, but I didn't notice her listed again during the race.

1. Does anyone follow her?

2. Is she the "real deal"?

3. Did she do more than one stint in Sebring? If not, why not?
