Heat Shielding

I'm looking for some stick on heat shielding like what Logic used on that WRC car he rebuilt, I need some to help reflect the exhaust heat away and in some other areas. What do you guys recommend?

Hope you don't mind me stealing your pic, Logic....

This is an example. It doesnt have to be EXACTLY that, but that style of shielding.

Both the mat (for inside, where the exhaust basically hits the bodyshell), and the tape for outside would be awesome. Is that just the normal 2in aluminized duct tape, or is that special?

I've seen that on a few WRC car pics I've seen. I assume that there is maybe some expensive electronic stuff on the inside that's more sensitive. And it keeps it from getting destroyed from rock spray and snow maybe?
I asked that too. I want it for the outside, where it makes sense. the mat would work inside, though, as it's an insulator, I would assume?

> I've never bought a roll of AL foil tape. I
> figured the HVAC duct stuff might be cheaper then
> 50 bucks. Looking through that 3m link, it looks
> like there really is basically one style of foil
> tape. I'm not after FANCY, I AM after the RIGHT
> stuff, hence my question.

well, regular DUCT tape is VERY different....the 'foil' tape comes in different styles/thicknesses.
I've never bought a roll of AL foil tape. I figured the HVAC duct stuff might be cheaper then 50 bucks. Looking through that 3m link, it looks like there really is basically one style of foil tape. I'm not after FANCY, I AM after the RIGHT stuff, hence my question.

It's looking like foil tape or that big sheet stuff.... but I don't think I need enough to warrant the big sheet stuff.

why did Logic put his on the inside? I meant to ask that earlier. Ideas?

I did the whole firewall and trans tunnel on my 76 Volvo with some cheap alluminum backed buytel (sp) stuff after i did the ford 2.3 turbo conversion, when towing our camper, it would cook my wife. after, it doesn't get much heating at all. that stuff has held up well, and it came in a 3 foot wide roll that was 10 feet long or something for $50. I've seen it used to shield bumper covers from exhaust heat. I'd think that on the inside of the floor the heat would collect under it and just loosen the adhesive??

Oh, I completly agree. I'm just looking for that style. The shiny tape is reflective, but the mat I believe can go on either side. I'm MOSTLY interested in the reflective stuff, to go outside. (like you said, to reflect away heat )

I just used a spray on ceramic insulation on the inside cover of our LeMons car and it works well and is quite durable. We also exploded an engine on it and were able to just wipe it clean of oil with only some soapy water. The only downside I can see so far is that you have to buy their spray gun to shoot the stuff. It's literally like spraying soupy mud.

This is the retail version of their commercial coatings. You can buy it from all sorts of places on the internet. http://www.lizardskin.com/
