Opel 1900 seen in NH

One of the local used car places has a 1971 Opel 1900 4 door automatic stuffed off in the side lot.

No idea if it runs or what they want for it...looked like above average condition for a New England car (which means not completely rusted to oblivion).

(603) 672-0033 I know nothing about this outfit, except they've been in the paper for some sort of issues relating to their charity contribution status.

Snapped these with camera phone last week, car is likely under 9" of snow now...

No I recognise the terrain in the background.
Driver side floors always go first in areas where they salt down the yellow line. I've learned this many a time :(

> > > Ah the Ascona.. I hadn't made that
> mental
> > link
> > > Vauxhall Viva HC = Opel Ascona
> > >
> > > Same tin work and everything eh?
> > >
> > You hadn't made the connection cause there
> twern't
> > one.
> >
> > From wiki:
> >
> > Viva production was scaled down after the
> launch
> > of the Chevette in spring 1975. Originally a
> 3
> > door hatchback, the Chevette offered 2 and 4
> door
> > saloons and a 3 door estate in 1976 that all
> > usurped the Viva's position as Vauxhall's
> small
> > car entry.
> >
> > The Chevette hatch was also sold as the Opel
> > Kadett City, but the Viva remained on sale
> until
> > the later part of 1979.
> > The passing of the Viva marked a significant
> > moment for Vauxhall, as it was the last car
> to be
> > completely designed by the Luton-based
> company.
> > All future Vauxhalls would be simply
> From wiki:
>
> Viva production was scaled down after the launch
> door hatchback, the Chevette offered 2 and 4 door
> saloons and a 3 door estate in 1976 that all
> usurped the Viva's position as Vauxhall's small
> car entry.
>
> The Chevette hatch was also sold as the Opel
> Kadett City, but the Viva remained on sale until
> the later part of 1979.
> The passing of the Viva marked a significant
Yeah group think, humans tend to do that. In a lot of ways it makes things easier, if not a whole lot more boring.

That's why I'm going to import a rusty old bagged out Simca 1000 to add to my fleet of obscure rear engined 1000 cc cars!

> states under any name.
>
> The coupes are amazing looking (imo). The droop
> snoots look good too.

Hell yeah we got Asconas, which is really just different window dressing than Mantas.

I managed to talk 5 guys into them 23-24 years ago.
They were way superior cars to anything Japonaise until the AE86s arrived, and it was saddled with a puny 1600.

They had 1900 motors that could be bore to 2,0; rack and pinion steering for which I got the internals to make them 2,4 turns I think, 22mm vs 19 stock rear wheel cylinders and wide shoes that lasted in the back, there were "Big" diffs and ring and pinions around, Tran-X made close ratio gearkits that I got for Sam Bryan and Dave Clark,

Because of different Homologation spec the Asconas were always more popular than Mantas in the rest of the world: Opel homologated a model Ascona with 2 x 45 sidedraft Solexes and some decent rods which meant anybody could build the Ascona to those specs and do Group 1, the GpN of the day. Mantas had gotten injection in the last year of the "A" models and was stuck with that for Gp1 and Gp2 (which was kinda like GpA but far more restrictive till the late 70s.

They were slightly longer than the 410/Commodah/Maz-dogRX2-3-7, stronger, had unequal length double A arm suspension, rack and pinion and obviously better.
But you couldn't beat INERTIA---just like now all the get a VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW!VW! we'vbe heard for the last 10 years
Cool.. I almost bought the canadian version in a 2 door once. We got those as Epic Envoys and Vauxhall Vivas. A few other names as well. 2 door, 4 door, 2 door wagon.. not sure if the coupe was officially sold over here.
