        <description> Does anyone have one they want to let go of for uber cheap? My current one grenaded, (the kid I bought it from obviously beat the hell out of it) and the one I had as a spare, somebody STOLE! Which I just realized tonight. I think they snagged it when they came for the free grill I was giving away, just to get it outta the yard. Jerk-off pricks. 

If you have one, or know of where I can get one for uber cheap, drop me a line. The ol' racing budget is down in the mid triple-digits, which is very worrying...

            <description><![CDATA[ I have 2 or 3 KA 5 speeds here in Otario, but that ain't much use when you are in Utah.  Don't people swap in SR20's out there?  Here they practically give aways KA stuff to get it out of the way.<br />

I've run regular 80wt, synthetic, and redline in the last 6 seasons, swapped out the trans once because the input bearing was getting noisy... this is a SR trans, but they are the same except the bell housing.<br />

I know the T5 is great for this application and will improve the car, but I JUST put a brand new clutch and flywheel on, and had the u-joints replaced on the drive shaft. Gotta say, even though it's better, I'm not willing to replace all that stuff again, nor can I afford it right now. I need to graduate and get a real job before I can afford to really do anything like that. I probably won't even be racing besides rallyX and the Utah rally sprint (hopefully) until then. :(<br />

            <description><![CDATA[ 50$ for a bellhousing. Chatted the guy up for a minute or two, says nissan t5 bellhousing is not the standard t5 bolt pattern. Insert lots of bullshit here... back to useful info... 3 outta 4 bellhousings will bolt right up to your standard t5. the 4th requiring a little persuasion.... blah de blah...Says use gm clutch spline, nissan pp, flywheel TO bearing etc.<br />

there is a core sitting in pieces in his shop, I can stop by early next week and take some measurements for you. Give me the measurements you want and make the instructions idiot proof.]]></description>

Now we just gotta find cheap T5 boxes like sub $50 so it makes sense to throw in the right 2.95 first gearset....<br />

Oh note well boys, a T5 can be the funnest box for mere hundreds but watch out for what 5th you choose, try and get a 0.72 or .78.<br />
Alperti Kunkanenen got a Ford T5 in his mighty Volvo 240 and happened to get the 0.63 top gear and even with 4.88 axle that 5th is toooooo tall.<br />
(with the indeterminate miles 2300 n.a.  junk yard motor he has anyway)<br />
<br />
All joking aside, it's worth making some effort to get a decent box with decent ratios---it is a central part of the drive experience and it can really make a car more funner-er, or be boring.<br />

            <description><![CDATA[ I have no firsthand knowledge, but from what I've been told by a friend who tried to put a 240SX trans onto a truck:<br />

-The truck transmission is short enough to be significant. (Pictures? <a href="http://forums.nicoclub.com/240sx-trans-into-hardbody-t394307.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >http://forums.nicoclub.com/240sx-trans-into-hardbody-t394307.html</a> )<br />
-The shift isn't in exactly the same spot.  (likely not a big deal)<br />
-The starter holes are threaded on the opposite side. (which I think means you could keep the 240SX starter, and drill out the tapped holes on the truck transmission)<br />

Anyway, worth looking into those points.<br />

            <description><![CDATA[ I'll keep a lookout for the zx trans, and probably rebuild this one if possible later. I found a guy who might have a ka24 pickup trans, which is supposed to bolt right up, and is just a smidge shorter than the longest 240sx trans, which is fine. Plus it has more robust bearings. <br />

Here's the gearing for the truck trans. It's decent, no T5, but decent. The jump from 1st to second is better than the 240sx at least. <br />

            <description><![CDATA[ have you cracked the case to see what the problem is?  It seems like, as long as the gears and shafts are intact and not damaged, you'd be better off rebuilding it rather than buying one in unknown condition.<br />
