AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

from RA propaganda just now:

"
Another team with experience that could be beneficial is Car 40, Mirra / Ockwell. The team has run four winter rallies recently. Mirra was looking forward to his first gravel rally of the Championship; given the conditions, he is glad to have run a few snow rallies recently. As for the weather, Mirra smiled "it's the Canadians, once they sign up, the weather changes."

50 entries and it's all about this new jerkoff again.

Hasn't done shit and never will.
There, I typed it!
Poor Alan, having to endure these boring rides over and over,
he doesn't deserve it.

Unfortunately I think we are going to see alot more of this BS in the coming years. So much marketing is being pushed on the x games demographic that rally wins will be shuffled aside for the "rally car high jump" "rally car long jump" "rally car dirt drifting" All scored based on style points.

Contests like that which I fully expect to see in the next x games will bring new meaning to the spend to win comments.

Randy I want to see you paint the RS flat black with a big Rally Anarchy on the hood and win some RA events.

My mother won a rally overall on her first try back in 83, it was only a little local/regional/whatever event

I thought Lisa's claim was that she was the first to win a "national" since that's what RIM was considered, but I suppose since I haven't finished reading all of the replies that I'm just reposting something that's already been brought up anyway

Rally America Signs Consulting Agreement with WMG

LOS ANGELES, CA and GOLDEN VALLEY, MN -- Rally America, one of the nation’s upcoming auto sport sanctioning bodies, has retained Wasserman Media Group for consulting, management and marketing services. Through the consulting arrangement, Wasserman Media Group’s (WMG) Marketing division will be supporting and building the Rally America brand through strategic planning, media distribution, and unique cross-marketing opportunities across a wide spectrum of action sport platforms. The partnership has already produced several marketing initiatives.

“After only a few weeks into our partnership, WMG is already identifying and activating opportunities,” said J.B. Niday, Managing Director of Rally America. “It has been rewarding to couple our operations expertise with the marketing and strategic planning acumen of a proven firm like Wasserman.” Rally America will run nine national events in 2006, and will feature ESPN X Games winner Travis Pastrana in a factory Subaru of America sponsored entry, along with other nationally and world recognized rally athletes.

“An exciting and emerging property such as Rally America is a perfect fit for our organization,” said Roger Lipker, Senior Vice President, WMG Marketing. “The sport, its athletes, and a growing fan base are all important components we can develop. We are also identifying strategic programs with other WMG clients, and it’s a plan where we will mutually benefit from new opportunities.”

Through its consulting group WMG Marketing specializes in developing customized marketing programs that leverage campaigns and fuse brands with the power, emotion and affinity of sports and entertainment. The consulting group has proven experience in all major sports and new emerging sports, as well as in music and film. The account teams are skilled in evaluation and management of new and existing portfolios including strategic planning and creative and promotional program development and execution.

About Rally America: Rally America assumed management of SCCA ProRally and ClubRally properties in October 2004, and launched an all-new National Championship series in 2005. Rally America racing features modified production cars, racing against the clock, on controlled sections of roads that are usually unpaved and unforgiving. Events can last several days and cover hundreds of miles through rain, snow, day or night. This extreme test of skill, speed and endurance is what makes rally racing one of the world’s most exciting forms of motorsport, and one that is quickly growing in North America.

Re: Bullshit hype

JVL, as we all know/knew, RA signed a contract with WMG in 2006. But since following simple directions wasn't effective I'll spell it out real simple.

It should be no surprise that Mira and Pastrana also happen to be two of their managed "athletes". This information is very publicly available on their website. I intended to post very specific links but since the pages are all flash that wasn't an option, but with regards to those two the "proof" is there on the site.

Additionally, I cannot confirm it in any way at this point in time but I believe they also have contracts for some work with Monster and/or RedBull (remember hearing discussions with some various rally and non rally people but have no articles, links, or other wise with which to verify this point).

It should be no surprise whom we see getting the praise and time in the Press Releases that are put out via WMG/RA. The best way to make sure you get the coverage in RA is to sign with WMG and get sponsors that WMG works for, then it is a win-win-win-win. Some of it is all a little to convienent sometimes...

Well some of us with jobs don't spend 100% of our time glued to Webs and don't follow or give a shit about such periperal BS as what managerssome people whore themselves to.
Further, littlebuddy, I said it was some Flash bullshit and I ain't going to spend time fucking with Flash shit to see something you could have simply said Kevin, you vying for the Pete One line-No comment Morris-in-training award?

At's all about "leveraging the synergy of sports and entertainment" blah blah.

Kevin, you are talking about the thing that marks American "sports and entertainment" mindset.
It is the heart of what is behind any of the contemptuousness you might get a little glimpse of occasionally in my writing---and what bugs me about your style of writing a bit as well:
The hype is primary, and the hypesters think they are the important piece in the whole puzzle.

When anybody who has ever been round that sort knows they are repellent parasites, hollow and shallow husks of humans, not just air heads, but totally hollow inside.
To call these "Management" types whores would be an insult to the women in that trade.

It is a large part of why Americans are looked at as superficial, and simplistic bumpkins, because as a country, these types of ultra-hype shits dominate EVERYTHING.

And everybody wants to get on the band wagon.
