I wish I could find the pic - but I once saw this girl VW rally team picture.
I think it was on SS - anyway...
Car was upside-down in a ditch after hitting a tree.

Bumper sticker on the car read: "Girls Kick ASS!"
Caption read:
"Grils may kick ass, but - Tree 1, Ditch 1, Girls NOTHING"

I am all for women in motorsports - but when they cross the "Yea! I have BOOBIES! Look at me!" attention whore level, they only hurt themselves and the species reputation for being able to "be just as good as boys".
- and just like Danica Patrick (shudder) most of us can see right through it.

and the people who can't see through it - Grant yells at. smiling smiley

I think I would be pulling a "Gilles Panizzi Safari Rally, get out of car and punch driver in front" stunt!
(Someone MUST have that vid somewhere - YouTube let me down)

I give props to Leon and Lisa for their publicity abilities, we'll see if the hype can be met.

As for the Driving Force show - I didn't watch it but if it's about John Force and his kids...Ashley is a hot little piece of ass so I have no probs with a show about her!

Well I don't include drag racers as athletes (especially that beer swilling fat ass john farce) but yeah she's kinda hot. Show's about as entertaining as any reality series.

Yes. "Reality" series. Like when they film John and Ashley in the breakroom at the shop eating a lunch of KFC. And "off the cuff" remarking about it's lack of trans fat and delicious spices.

To be followed by a KFC commercial that had ALMOST the same delivery word for word. Reality. Uh-huh.

Product placement is big biz, but I don't like being sold something EVERY second I look to be entertained...especially BETWEEN the commercials.

I still haven't read John Force's book, but I heard it's a good read. The guy has robbed Peter to pay Paul while skimming enough to keep his racing afloat since the beginning...and he admits it. For better or worse.

I would race a clown car sponsored by huggies if they were footing the bills. I am a whore for racing, and highly motivated to sell anything that lets me run for less.

You know I was thinking about something similar to this the other day. I decided that I would much rather be a super rich guy doing rally as a hobbie for fun than be a sponsored up guy relying on other for money and with pressure for results. Not saying I'd turn down a ride, but I'd rather be super rich and doing it for my enjoyment rather than to sell a product.

Anybody else watch Ultimate Fighting Championship for mixed martial arts? I've seen a couple fighted with 'CondomDepot.com' on the seat of their trunks. Don't care how much you pay me, I'm not putting condom anything near my ass.

Who doesn't want super rich?

Rallying would be a lot easier to justify if I wer super rich so I'm holding up my hand; voting for 'Id rather be rich.'

Yeah, I'd like to be rich, I'd be a whore, put Condom Depot anywhere, whatever.

But if I'm rich, then I can do say and what I want.

As long as I don't have to watch IFC ;-)

Maybe saying I'd rather be super rich is too obvious an answer. But given the option to be a top level wrc rally guy or a top level money-having guy I'd go for the money, though both of which are just as likely to happen. But it'd be all the fun without the pressure. Plus it seems to me that many top level players in any form of sport dont enjoy it anymore, to them its just a job.

Along these same lines, instead of trying to promote myself and get sponsorship to continue rallying I'm choosing to go back to school to get a better degree and a higher paying job so that I can rally more in the future. Which, to me, sounds like a more solid option. But maybe thats because I have a hard time relying on other people, which I would have to do if I was relying on sponsorship money to rally.

And so from my point of view I have a hard time understanding why people like Block have all these sponsorships with monster, subaru, dc, etc, and why he does all these self promotion things making false claims. If I were him and I really cared about american rallying I'd be rallying on my own dime and using my connections with these big time corporations to help the talented but underfunded drivers increase their skills and exposure. But to me it seems that he's just using rally america and all the rallyists to achieve his own personal goals, but I suppose that is the american way.
