Ya know i was thinking and it hit me that this whole forum grew out of agitation and support of the whole Group2, then Group 222, which morphed into the whole GroupF in America" movement--which spawned the Max Attack idea, so this place really should be the Spiritual Home of Max Attack, rather than some sub-forum over on the ALL Travis and Ken, All the Time rah rah forum.. Whaddya think. Specially when this place gets twice the viewership of the other. I think I oughtter call Lurchie. We were there working it rather than competing. Our conclusion for the reason: CIS couldnt handle the 288 degree cams
Maxattack; 1 and 2nd were close for day one only 9 seconds at the end of the day. Josh Wimpey, proved how fast he is (and super clean) one more time. Josh had an ecu/map sensor problem and Eric Burmeister won the event. Bushore, Eixenberger all looked good but wore out run by the TDI and Hampton Bridwell. Bushore had the wall and landed sideways on stage 2 and lost time. He most likely would have been 3rd. I have videos of the last stage uploaded; Burmeister http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020052.flv Eixenberger http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020055.flv Bridwell http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020057.flv Hordijk http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020058.flv Gillespie http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020059.flv Wright http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020060.flv Gus Garrido http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020062.flv Brosnan http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020063.flv Maunz http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020064.flv Moen http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020065.flv Huebe http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020066.flv McClelland http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020067.flv How You Are Not supposed to Rally! http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020068.flv Bushore http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y53...t=P8020069.flv rally gods would turn in their graves if they ever knew Lada's were now part of EU rallying!!! |

The first stage Wimpey and Lurch tied, second stage Lurch takes a 3 second advantage, 3rd stage Wimpey wins by 2 seconds so is a second behind, 4th stage Wimpey wins by 1 second so we are all tied again, Lurch wins stage 5 by 6 seconds so is ahead by 6 seconds but Wimpey counters winning stage 6 by 3 seconds so Lurch has a 3 second advantage going into the final Friday stage. Wimpey stalls on a downhill hairpin (I think) and Lurch wins it by 13 seconds to go into the 2nd day w/ a 16 second head start. Eixenberger-Slocum was leading the rest of the pack and were having a good battle w/ Moen-Nunnemacher until Moen had an issue on the final Friday stage. Bushmore put in some decent stage times but lost too much time rolling over on stage 2.
Both Dondlinger and Joseph Burke crash out in spectacular MaxAttack! fashion. Wimpey's car wouldn't start coming out of Parc Expose Saturday AM (Map sensor). Lurch kicks it down a notch but still manages to win 9 of the 10 Saturday stages while Moen won 1 by 1 second. Some AWD carnage and a turbo fire put 2 AWD cars out of overall contention and Lurch ends up on USRC podium in third. Eixenberger suffers a flat on stage early Saturday AM and loses several positions. Hordijk in his first rally as a driver places 2nd MaxAttack! with a squeaky clean run in the turbo diesel VW. Bridwell runs out the MaxAttack! podium. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/04/2008 10:38PM by CommanderSalamander. |

Got the boost under control and will adjust it on the fly for more boost when he can use it or less boost to prevent the wheelspin and eating tires. And now he brakes later. |

It was loads of fun racing with Josh on Friday and disappointing when he couldn't continue Saturday. Eric and I were among the hoard of people trying to diagnose the problem with Josh's car. Thought I found it when I found a wire to the oil pressure sensor had come off thinking it was wired that if he lost oil pressure that the fuel pumps cuts off (my Lancia is like that). But we hooked it up and it still wouldn't crank. Josh knows those roads like nobody else and shares that info which helps others to go faster and avoid crashing at the gotchas. Nice to have him near you in the start order to get the low-down on each stage right before you start. Missed having Havas getting to start. Bet he would have schooled us again. Hey, Mothra, how much did the tire valve set you back? Thanks for working. Anytime you want a good laugh watching panic set in over misplacing the timecard at a start control, let us know. Missed the calling the first couple corners finding my place in the notes again and took a couple more before I got the crotchbelt latched. We were too busy playing fashion police and were ready to bust your partner w/ the rubberboots and shorts. Good laughs all-around. |

FYI they are also the guys that run the 24hour recovery service that pulled out the deep off cars on Friday. I'll post the name and number tonight. Good folks with a shop that has a lift and tore machines suitable for rally tires and would likely open up for rally teams. Yep, the guy working start with me was a character but aren't we all. You guys had me worried. I was standing there counting clicks as Lurch got his belts back on. Matt Smith Racing in glorious black and red My daily life is a Saab story (sold!) |

Or because we were rev limited to 5000rpm on stage2 and the very end of stage 3. Or because Jason was late on a few notes on stage 7. BUT, the truth is that Lurch was DRIVING hard and fast on Friday. It seemed significantly faster than I had seen him drive in the past. I knew that even if we got everything sorted out, we would have some work to do on Saturday to get ahead of him. Congrats on letting it rip!! Wish we could have battled on Saturday. Josh ______________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________- One. West Virginia went well on Friday but Saturday, some electrical gremlins kept us out of the race and we had to retire.
here is the first In-car video I have managed to get online from Friday's stages. Despite our retirement, it was better for us than it was for the rolled cars off the side of the road that can be (kinda) seen at the following points in the video: 1:06---EVO in the woods on left 3:10---Ambulance on its roof on left 3:29---Subaru on its roof on left 4:18---Integra WAY off the road on left AND....The last stage on Friday _______________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________- One. I only have carnage pics, as I was doing sweep:
Stage 1 of Day 1: Burke's Integra WAY off in the trees. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/kentmdavis/Rally_WV_08/Friday/100_0879.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/kentmdavis/Rally_WV_08/Friday/100_0880.jpg Kennedys' Impreza rolled 4-6 times. Had to drag it on it's roof to clear the course. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/kentmdavis/Rally_WV_08/Friday/100_0883.jpg AMBULANCE! Yes the ambulance rolled off. Imagine trying to get that back onto the road. (~9000 lbs) The wrecker retrieving it was one of those huge semi trucks. (I had to back up about 1/4 mile when I met it coming into the stage, just to find a place to allow us to pass) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/kentmdavis/Rally_WV_08/Friday/100_0890.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/kentmdavis/Rally_WV_08/Friday/100_0892.jpg Anders' Impreza H6 STI - we dragged him back onto course, and Anders & Amy continued. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/kentmdavis/Rally_WV_08/Friday/100_0893.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/kentmdavis/Rally_WV_08/Friday/100_0897.jpg Dondlinger-Parps New 07 GTI - This one gave me the heebie-jeebies. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/kentmdavis/Rally_WV_08/Friday/100_0903.jpg Video of the off: McCormack-Farrell #2 Evo VI - A few corners from the finish http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v308/kentmdavis/Rally_WV_08/Friday/100_0889.jpg Undamaged, but needed a wrecker for extraction.
