Logbooks...
August 21, 2008 10:01PM
Jason, Chris and Timm...and others I may not know about...

Where are you guys at as to being ready for logbooks ? I talk with Timm frequently ( he may be nearing stalker status winking smiley ) so I know what he is up to, how about the rest. I'd like to make as few trips as possible up north. I don't know how you guys drive up there without being drunk or shooting someone, or both.

Timm, tell everyone what you're spending your money on . . .

it's looking like Wild West 2009 unless he actually starts putting the car together.

Gene unfortunately I've gone in the wrong direction... I completely stripped the shell I got down to the unibody and the cage and it's off in the hands of a better welder than me doing some more seam welding. After he's done I'm getting the floor (on the outside) and the interior powder coated white.

I'm hoping to have it back by the first week of sept or so, at which time I can re-assmble the body (doors, fenders, hatch & hood, glass, etc), paint it, and put some seats and belts in it. At that point it should be complete except for drivetrain, and I think that's what you said you needed to do the log book inspection. For me that's going to be mid to late september at the earliest.

I am shooting for Mt. Hood as my next event.

I have no problems saying I bought a 2500 dollar mtn bike. I've got pretty much every piece of my car.

Uh, yes. I live at home, have little bills, make good money at a job that promotes overtime, and my work pays for college. I can afford some toys. smiling smiley

Take it back...give Adam $500 for WW, put $1800 into the rally car account, buy a box of bandaids, buy my gas and lunch and I'll drive up there and kick yer butt down the side of a mountain...everyone wins that way...smiling smiley

Hey, if he wants to buy some cheap crappy bike, that's his business. smiling smiley

Bikes are an illness. They're expensive, and the maintenance costs are hell unless you never actually ride the thing. I stopped riding ten-odd years ago, did they ever manage to make a chain/cogset that lasts for more than 500 miles of mud use?

No. But ever since they brought out reliable sealed bearings, the maintenance has gotten a whole lot easier.

Oh, and mud riding is mostly frowned upon around here as it really damages the trails. It's generally accepted that it's ok to ride on fire roads in the rain, but not the singletracks. There're people who do it, of course, but they tend to be ostracized by the mountainbiking crowd pretty quickly.
