absolutely, add all those folks to the list. I certainly didn't mean to minmize their contributions, I just don't know all those names very well yet.

I still think its a small list.

hell, we have 9+ rallyX organizers just doing rallyX's in Cali, and we all know how organizing a rallyx is nothing compared to a real stage rally.

I just think its very ironic that Cali, in all its 'glory', is really 95% rural/farmland/desert/boonies, and we only have 1 real stage rally race within its borders.

We went to a few motorcycle stores today and I was looking at the motorcycle trails books and there were a few pictures of OHV roads/trails that would be perfect stage practice roads. Made for dirt bikes and/or jeeps and have no speed limits etc.

we went to the legal liability workshop at work yesterday.

key issues were "dont create documents"
such as
it will be cheaper if a few people die, because we dont have to get insurance,

there are ways to not create documents
talk to people on the phone, or in person

dont write emails or post about "super rockabilly rally" it is a shitty idea, which is why most of us who rally are happy to pay super high entry fees to go as fast as we fucking want on a one way road in the woods (fields).

Overkill is consistently more fun

I get tired of the subaru bashing which has NO basis in facts. I sense there is some jelousy of the top guys in bazillion dollar cars but there are lots of us average guys who can run these things as cheap as anything else. And you know what; they ARE a very very good rally car. Parts are EVERYWHERE. I thought seriously of building a grp 2/5 car but realized I'd just spend the same money as I do now on something that isn't any more fun to drive.

Heres what I think would be interesting, and heres my offer;

We find a subaru naysayer who has an idea what he's talking about and he can drive my car at this years tall pines. I'll provide the car/fuel and transport of the car and the prospective driver pays his travel/accomadation and entry.

Co-driver could be me (IF you can teach me what a co-driver does exactly) or someone of your choice.

My vote goes to JVL. You up for it John?

Since I'm the one who brought up Subaru in the context of operating costs and sustainability let me say again that I was under the impression that running a WRX long term has a much higher cost than running a older G2 car. It seems logical that for the cash strapped regional competitor it may not be a long term viable platform.

Yes, I could be wrong and if in your experience it would have worked out the same for you Gp2/Prod 2wd vs Open/Prod AWD, cost wise, I'll take your word for it (with a wee bit of skepticism for good measure). I'm guessing the bashing comment must be from threads past because I really don't see any bashing in this thread, nor did I see any affront to the awesomeness of the Subaru as a rally platform (indeed 460ft/lbs does sound like a lot of fun ).

Now on to your offer, is the idea that someone breaks your car and then you show us how cheap it is to fix it? I'm confused.

Well you're right. Not this thread specifically but there seams to be a growing consensus that subaru=evil.

But there are those here that DO doubt it, but you look at guys like Zimmer who seems to have that sustainability thing down pretty good.
