Defi Stories????
September 08, 2008 02:34PM
Where are all the stories from this weekend?

I'm hearing whisperings of bad gas, well armed locals, high attrition, Edstrom impersonators, girl-on-girl porn...all sorts of crazyness.

Yet all I'm reading on SS is about Planet Motorsport's Krack service crew.

Bring it!

First post here but as one of the Planet Motorsport drivers felt I had to respond! Yes, they are a crack crew.

Stories - I destroyed three mailboxes while driving slower than my granny and then went swimming in a ditch.

Mr Cassidy suffered from bad fuel that needed his tank emptied, etc - and yes the Planet crew helped there too.

Not questionning Christians motivation for throwing the red cross but Alan had every good reason on La Barbiche when they came across a civilian car.

Agree, that for such a dramatic rally with so much attrition there have been very few stories here or on SS.

Vittorio and I blew the motor in the Audi, about 5k into the first pass of Lac Barbiche. In spite of that, we had a blast at Defi. This rally has everything that I enjoy about this sport. The stages are a great mix, the people in each of the towns we passed through were cool, and our fellow competitors were great to be around. As usual, C.A.R.S. continues to set a very high standard.

After we broke, we were towed to about the 11k mark of the stage where we waited out the second pass alongside Eric Grochowski and Leanne Junnila, whose rally came to an end due to a faulty fuel pump.

I'm sure Eric will be around to add his own story, as will the Tedneck and John Cassidy. I can't wait to go back next year.

The old Tedneck only remembers being at some water park and having to pass a convoy of sweep vehicles on numerous transits. Typical boring rally for us running at the back in our very uncool Sub-a-rat. My doctor says my Heart can't take too much excitement.

And, I couldn't find anything trashy on the hotel tv, even after midnight. What the Hell happened to ArtTV, they used to show some flesh, now it's Pavarati.

See ya at Tall Pines.

Art-TV is dead? Oh mannnnnnnn.

From the sound of things Tedneck, Team Rehab Is For Quitters did a pretty good job securing a class win, a finish...and a top-10 finish at that.

Bravo!

Thanks,
We started 15th, reseeded to 25th and somehow finished 8th. Must have gotten a few flyers ;-) or everyone in front of broke or stuffed it.

I fondly refer to Defi as Mini-Safari because of the road conditions of the late stages.

My wife's Sub-a-rat won't win any drag races so we suffer on Friday's short smooth, fast stages.

We had a blast in the G5 Nissan 240SX... ran behind Ted for most of the day on Saturday and a few in front on Vitto... it's a good feeling to run with people you know around you. Started 33, re-seeded 27, finished 14th O/A, 1st G5, 2nd 2WD.

Bent another insert doing this...

43.9km practice stage, err... transit to Emmit stage was fun too!
In Quebec they like to time the transits pretty tight!

Ted what kind of engine management are you running on the WRX?
What brand of rev limiter are you using?

It's all stock Subaru running pump gas. Do you think the rev limiter is holding me back?

Ted,

In your case it's "probably wise" to have the rev limiter kick in where it does.

Shit, it looks like your hauling ass enough as it is...

I commented on it back it seems like a nice soft touch limiter, spark controlled and I'm looking for one for my rig.

Awesome recovery Martin. Important to have wipers and a defrost at that event. Looks like fun!

Yep, wipers and defroster were real important. That was about the worst my windshield was for fogging, we'd just recently gone thorugh a huge water hole, and I think the blower fan swallowed a quart or two and became a fogger for a while!

I don't get what you're on about. What advantage do you think there is to reving a restricted turbo motor? After 5K the party's long over.
