The Pine Barrens Express

Saturday afternoon/evening ~ November 22

A medium length (120-140 mile) Time Speed Distance rally using the sand trails/roads of southern New Jersey. This event is on the SCCA NEDIV and Mid-Atlantic Road Rally schedule and will be counted as part of the National Touring series points total. While this event will have mileage to every turn and “Tulip” instructions, due to the type of roads and lack of hard referenced signage and landmarks this event by it’s nature is not for first time ralliest. But if you want to have fun after dark…this may be an event for you. Last year this event drew 60 teams from throughout the northeastern United States.

SCCA (or anyonelse's) sanction is not required. The sanction is really just gets you into a regional or national championship points. A local club can organize and put on a TSD event. Most of the ORC (Ohio Rally Championship) events were not SCCA events. Our local club used to do a 12 hour dirt TSD in the semi-local National Forest. The local club buys appropriate insurance coverage and goes for it.
Our local club's insurance has two rates , basically over and under 150 total milage for the event. $1,000,000 liability. If possible, we follow SCCA's road Rally Safety rules regarding control locations and road vs speed selections. After all, they've been sued more than anyone else. I'll use the lessons they learned the hard (and expensive way) to CMA.

Night on Bald Mtn Gravel TSD Oct 4

The Night on Bald Mountain TSD is coming up on October 4. It usually goes from about 5pm to 11pm. This year it is based in Tumwater, WA, and will be largely contested on our old favorite rally roads in the Capitol Forest.

It is not SCCA-sanctioned, but it is sanctioned/insured/organized etc.
