CAR PORN, hahahahahaha, that's awesome. There's another evil non rally site I spend too much time at, and whenever someone posts a bunch of pics of some sexy car I always quote and tell them "damn you, I'm not supposed to look at porn at work!"


I wish I knew more of what I was talking about when posting here. But, since I'm not a gearhead, I'm just a gearhead groupie, I try to stick to the threads where even if I don't know what I'm talking about, I can try to pretend.

I guess I'm just used to it thanks to the other site I spend my time at, it's full of Vile Barf and I've just learned to not worry about it. Been there over 7 years now and it's sort of like white noise.

Eddie, it's an award winning short film on a real World Champion driving in a real event: Ari Vatanen at Pikes Peak in a Peugeot hotter than the hottest GpB car.
And yes it's beautifully edited, exciting shooting, fantastic driving but the difference is Ari Vatanen was a real rally driver, not just some rich dude using his massive resources to beat a bunch of hosers like all of us and then claim based on that---or fluff like this or the jump from prepared ramp to prepared ramp foo foo---to claim or present himself as some sort of good driver.

That's a not-too-subtle distiction.

Now it is a shame that a carefully laid out reasoning why something strikes me as not too impressive is characterized by some young pups as a rant, but I can't help it if they don't have the experience or moxy or taste to draw distinctions.

For the record, adults doing shenanigans for a second or two on bikes or skatebaords or little childrens bicycles doesn't impress me either.

Longer duration harder things do impress me, or "doing the most-est with the least-est does, hence my admiration of GroupF and GruppH drivers and the world elite in rally when the events had 450-500km special stages.
That is also why I am impressed with John Lane's driving over the horde of blue Subu-bitchis, ot Tom B or Derek Bs.

You boys showing your youth and not knowing or caring about the difference between longer, harder real events and this kind of fluff should reflect a second and think Hmmmmm maybe you've missed something in your lives spent playing on computers and dreaming about building some high end ultr-trick car---that will puke the box even at stock power.

Rememeber most everything is a point of view and from some angles your posts look, and smell like shit.

But it accomplishes little to try and point that out so most of us don't most of the time.

this thread is getting to me. most of the time i don't care, but this one bothers me for some reason.

john: your post on haters seems to me to be condescending and contradictory. just after posting how you aren't "hating" you then go on to talk about "real" rally drivers while italicizing bits. sure you can't compare ken to ari without realizing the vast differences between the time period and the people involved, but most of us know that. the anger and derision that comes across does nothing to bolster anything you say and seems trite and contrived. your initial response wasn't merely a "meh" but seems to be jumble of ken block bashing which mostly isn't pertinent to the thread or the conversation at hand yet continues to come across by being forced upon this thread and others. don't get me wrong, i'm usually the first one to say something smarmy, smart-ass, or offensive that can sometimes border on mean, but its usually tongue in cheek and even if it isn't i can appreciate other points of view even if i disagree (usually). i appreciate your opinion and even more so that you have an opinion but this higher-than-though, brow-beating, seemingly illogical myopic anger that comes across is weary (that sentence goes for you too jens).

You all make me laugh. It's either 'hate' on Ken or 'hate' on John. Is anything in this post of surprise to any of you? I think I pretty much had how this thread would go from the beginning. The only surprise was Merillee and Mark actually posting on here. Then again, he's in African American Studies class right now so probably bored to tears.

Mark and I would totally make a video like this, but probably way cooler if we were in Ken's income bracket. It's a cool promo video, not a competition video. Ken just has some resources that the rest of us do not. I won't give away any of our ideas though since I am still buying those powerball tickets occasionally. You guys would probably all hate it, but it'd get 2 million views in 2 days as opposed to Ken's meager 1 million or so.
