That may well be but we aren't talking about ATV's or M1's, there are street legal 2-stroke bikes, come to think of it there is also the RE5 Suzuki rotary, so back to the question why the discrimination against 2-stroke's????? Isn't street legal good enough? I would think JVL would be all over this LOL...

Really? smiling smiley You really think that it's important to make room in the rules for a bike that was made over thirty years ago, for only a couple of years, that weighs nearly 600 pounds, wasn't designed with gravel-road suspension and is nearly universally believed to be impossible to get parts for? Really??? grinning smiley How about this: get six to sign up and we'll start a spec class for 'em. smiling smiley

Cause it's hard to promote 2-stokes in forests and there are plenty of other places for two strokes to race.

Oh, he already has. I think he's forgiven me by now though. Or forgotten. One way or the other. smiling smiley

Anders, Anders, Anders...(sigh)

You need to remember this is the Pacific Northwest, the land that time forgot. Bell bottoms aren't coming back in style, they never left here. Walk thru a mall and still smell people wearing patchouli oil. I'll bet there are hundreds of old 2 stroke Yamaha Enduros sitting in garages next to dusty old Valiant 4 doors. Who wouldn't love that ringa-ding-ding-ding sound coming thru a haze of Castrol 2 stroke oil . smiling smiley

Heck we still splash around in a 42 year old boat winking smiley

Well it was appearantly important to make room in the rules to discourage engine types...

At his age he's forgotten!

I really don't care as I have no personal interest in riding in an event, I just find it interesting that the rules are excluding versus including-who'd a thunk...

Rant?!?!? I speak the truth here!

This thread actually lead me to go out and buy a new Husqvarna chain saw WHILE I STIIL CAN! You can buy get an assault rifle at 7/11 but they are going to outlaw 2-strokes?

Actually, you can't get an assault rifle at 7/11 since full auto weapons have been closely regulated since 1934, and true assault rifles (selective fire) have therefore been regulated since their inception (the precursor/urwaffe of the assault rifle is generally recognized as the German MP43/44 at the end of WWII). And the feds won't let you purchase an assault rifle manufactured after 1986 at all. This despite the Second Amendment which states that the citizen's right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, and a history of a single crime since 1934 that involved a legally owned full-auto weapon, and that crime committed by an off duty police officer.

As to a "look alike" like the AR-15 that is semi-automatic, you can purchase one of those after going through an instant background check, if you are not a criminal, and these are severely endangered under the current administration. Of course, this is despite statistics that long guns (i.e. rifles) are used in well less than 5% of all crimes involving guns (I think it is between 1 and 2%, but it could be less) and despite the Second Amendment which states that the citizen's right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

FWIW, there is also a movement to ban lead containing ammunition. No joke there.

2 cycles have been stringently regulated for bikes since what, 1986 or so? Can't run them on the street under Federal law. You can run a 50cc or less 2 stroke scooter on the street in most states. Could maybe be an issue?

Al,

"Stihl" is the saw of choice here in the Northwest.

I agree will all the rest. (2-wheels = 2-stroke).

Off hand I would say probably not. As they usually hand those out after tech and reg, Sat AM. I'll ask though.

Ah- Good call, Jason.

I'm all for the Saturday registration, but we'll be there Friday, too. It would be nice to have the routebook so we can make our marks Friday night instead of rushed Saturday morning.

But, this is Doo Wops and I won't complain either way.

Thanks!
