Don't worry DexterVW, you will get used to JVL. I promise you he will grow on you, just like you will grow on him.
I like and know VWs. I've flogged many of them. However, get rid of them and go buy an E36 325i. You'll never look back. Wilson "Talk about drugs. I stand corrected by JVL. Zaehne are teeth in German, so "straight toothed."

So doesn't that pretty much make Frank's argument to run an Audi or a VW? I've looked at Frank's photos, and if he can pretty much do whatever the hell he wants with a build - so if he is wanting to run a RWD or AWD VW - Pretty sure he can... Dude has some SERIOUS fabrication skills. I also wanted to comment on the whole Volvo as a rally car. There's another reason that doesn't seem to get mentioned when referring to the popularity in Scandinavian countries. They're like the Cavalier of Finland. They're very poular - plain and simple. You run what you can. French guys run Peugeots, Germans run BMW's, Swedes run Volvos... They all make great rally cars - but it's likely more important to find a car that YOU feel comfy building... I love 240 Volvos - but they're not anywhere near the drivers car stock out of the box as a 505 Turbo, so they'll always be down on the list if I ever wanted to build one. Merkur's are great cars as well - but those are more rare than Peugeots up here! BTW - In advance - if I gave a shit about what people thought about what I drive, then I certainly wouldn't be building a Peugeot! Great debate though - very entertaining. Rabin |

I'm surprised that you were even able to even come up with a snappy comeback, you know, with the dick in your mouth and all. ![]() "Talk about drugs. Yet another engineer who is expert in all things.... In particular those which he clearly has no clue! I'm laughing my ass off. My rear-drive Volvo is hillarious as well as effective at winning events. We are sideways through all the turns and faster then all them restricted 4X4 things down any and all the straights. No soda straw holding up the fun in Gp-5. If memory serves John did mention that turbos and 2.3 liters make a lot of fun.... I'll counter with.... My car's three liter V-6 (the Frenchie thing that Volvo-types tend to hate) Avec a nice T-4 turbo and programmable injection takes that laughs ratio much further in the right direction. Careful though.... Them pansy Dana 30 rears don't have big enough anything to live. My car is somewhat.... Enhanced from standard. To the OP..... Go rear-drive; be it a Volvo, X-Ratty, Corolla (getting pretty old nowadays) or BMW and laugh yourself silly. My buddy Derek went real good in his Golf thing once it actually got all the right junk in it so that it would not break every time out. Then he wadded it up and moved on. Derek $pent GOOD MONEY buying the stuff needed to make that flimsy shit live. Drive axles that would not break every few stages were an interesting thing.... If memory serves they involved 911 turbo outer C/V joints. Ugh. Don't reinforce VW control arms? Bwahahahahaha!! JohnLane Overkill is consistently more fun |

Wilson - very good. Your brother-uncle-daddy taught you very well in the ways of homophobia. Well done grasshopper. BTW - Usually those that have such strong homophobic tendencies are just repressing - so you might want to work that one out. Can we move on now? ![]() Back to the topic: As for the OP - I'm curious to see what he ends up building as it should be a pretty damn sweet ride. There's definitely some decent platforms to start with - so it'll be interesting to see what he goes outside of VW/Audi. Rabin Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/04/2009 09:45AM by bean. |
