Co-driving at a basic level is pretty easy. Co-driving at an advanced level is much harder. There's a reason why experienced navies like John Dillon, Chrissie Beavis, Jimmy Brandt, Wolfboy, etc are all demand.

At the basic level, you need need be able to read the routebook and work the odometer in the car so you can keep on track, do basic time arithmetic, and handle the time cards.

At the other end, you're sort of the team manager, and besides doing all of the above, you need to be able to read notes and map what you're reading to what you see, know the rulebooks inside and out and know what rule applies to whatever action your team takes if something goes awry, know your team's game plan and manage your driver accordingly (either a prod to speed up, or some words of caution to keep it cool), and have basic mechanical knowledge so you can help with repairs if need be.

What I would look for if I were you is a reasonably-experienced driver who knows you're a rookie and is willing to work with you on a couple of events. I would most emphatically NOT recommend going with another rookie.

I enjoy a little bit of biting, hell, sometimes a lot of biting. But you quoted someone who was talking about puking, and I don't like puking. So, no, not gonna do it, peer pressure don't work on me mister.

"I appreciate you bringing a bag, though."

That was great. and did NOT really sound as disgusting as I was lead to believe. In fact, I was actually eating some crunchy BBQ chips as I watched it. Not cheese-flavored Doritos, though...

see, it wasn't that bad. no puke flying up into the camera, just a nice view of the road and some great audio.
