I had a car once with the same problem. It drove me nuts, but it was a DD and I didn't have the tools or a place to work on it at the time..

I had this issue on an old Nissan - turns out the flywheel was a two level surface and the step wasn't ground to spec (PP mounted lower than disk surface and was too low) and had to be re-done. No idea if that would be your case - but suggesting it just in case. It was a BITCH to figure out.

Stomp down on the exhilarator and hold on to the wheel.

Yesterday I put my Opel up on my chassis jig (it's been outside for about a year), then removed the sheetmetal strips from behind the rear seat area and removed the OEM rear speaker deck. Also welded the custom fuel cell can into the trunk floor, and started templating the new rear firewall sheetmetal. Need to order some more rollcage tubing too.

2.3 turbo Ford in a huuuuuuuge tank of a body. Went pretty fast though, although JV will tell you the gear ratios are shit for anything that doesn't weigh 4,100 lbs. The body did well for Frod's roundy-round Winston Cup efforts back in the day. It was a 140 mph car stock.

Is the fork moving far anuff.. The disc is not in backword ?...Did you you make sure the disc was flat ... They NEVER are these day ...Take the clutch cover ..Fingers down on a table .. Now put the disc on the cover and see if you can "rock" the disc ..Work your finger around the very out side of the disc ..I bet it rocks .. Now find a vise..open it a little ..put a rag in the vise ..And straten the disc ..Make sure it does not rock ..Check each side ... I straten every disc I install .. Old trick a Old Guy showed me ..Old Guys Rule.. "I" "Me" would pull the clutch and fly wheel .. Once out I would bolt the clutch to the flywheel ..And put the whole mess in a press and press it open ..Using the T-bearing.. Once its open ..Check the gap with feeler gages.. See how far it "needs' to travel to open .. Just becareful ..On this .. The t-bearing can move on you...Did you let the trans hang on the clutch ..??.. I away put the new disc on the output shaft...And make sure the disc hub is strate to the disc...

Sorry this is kick your ass..

If the fork travel is good and right ..I'll bet the disc was not strate (or flat) ..And its needing alttle more room in there do to not being flat (or strate)

I would prefer to find a TR7 Sprint (16V 4 cyl) engine. That is the correct engine for the livery that I will be running. A full conversion kit is about $2000 plus shipping from the UK.

A Rover V8 (or its Buick predecessor) would be interesting, but I am afraid that I would kill myself (or worse, damage my hard work . I am gonna chase the bugs out of the car using the original 8V 4 cyl engine.

we had this problem on our 323... uses a protege BP motor, protege flywheel, and a 1.6 B6-T Mazda pressure plate and clutch disc. the normal 1.6 B6 flywheel will not work. maybe you have a slightly wrong pressure plate?? or unbled clutch cylinder
