You could've even borrowed mine. They're pretty cheap from Home Despot and they make WAY less mess. And your finger doesn't get sore. I gotta get the spare tire for the trailer remounted but otherwise the thing's in fine shape and waiting for you for Gorman. In other news, today I did jackshit on my car or van, but I did dig a 40' trench for a new sprinkler line at my house. Self-righteous douche canoe |

you did dig? digdug?
I was on the verge of getting an HVLP gun (or borrowing yours) but this weekend was bearing down on me and I needed to get it done fast and when I started researching paint, etc, etc, etc....I ended up walking into HD and getting this paint and saying 'fuck it'......next cage will get a better paint job ![]() Jon Burke - KI6LSW Blog: http://psgrallywrx.blogspot.com/ |

So, I tried to race Pike's Peak this year-Subaru rally car in PP open class. 1st morning of practice was awesome! Car ran great, we were only 4.7 seconds off of 2 evos with more than twice the power on the middle section. Got to meet Gronholm, finally got to drive the mountain, etc. I didn't like the front sway bar or the suspension settings. My co-driver offered to drive down so he could offer setup suggestions. I drove the service truck down, came around a corner and saw my rally car on it's lid-complete disbelief. Luckily, very light cosmetic damage. I drove the Salta Motorsports open class Subaru rally car the following day for upper mountain practice while my car was being repaired. Upper mountain practice was a learning experience-I hadn't been to the top since I was like 8 years old. The Salta car is an '04 STI. Very confidence inspiring setup. 5 Grandma style practice runs were very valuable. Well, on day 3 of practice I was back in my own car after a huge effort by a lot of great people. About 2/3 of the way up on the bottom section, my engine blew. Huge bummer. After much contemplation, we decided to yank the motor out of my '02 wrx street car in an attempt to make race day. We theorized that a crappy wiring harness to the #3 injector was the culprit and tried to chase down the problem. After installation of street car motor, a local Autronic tuner came down with laptop and wideband o2. After about 35 miles of road tuning, the street car motor suffered the same demise-melted piston on #3 cylinder. Today, I got to see both melted pistons after yanking the heads. I guess I'll send off the Autronic and have a proper harness built.

Began wiring garage for more light, MOAR POWAR, so as to actually support a rally car and the thingies necessary to work on rally car.
Contacted some nice people about doing the work that needs to be done to my car, because my office-working ass isn't capable of much. |

The same cylinder was the one that had the whole from when it was Waples and blew up on him at Pike's Peak. Aaron had rebuilt the engine, replaced all the injectors, and had the engine retuned by a totally different and highly respected tuner. We looked at the harness before the street car engine was put back in the car and all looked fine. So what's causing the failure could be both or either. Grant Hughes |

It KILLS me going to other's places to help work on stuff. Not enough light, wrong tools, etc. I hate that. Welcome to the cult of JVL drink the koolaid or be banned. |

It *might* be the issue. A friend of mine has an Autronic in his Suby and it's been troublesome over the years (random misfires traced to a bad board). This spring it finally crapped out for good so he sprung for a Motec. Opel is a 4-letter word... http://www.flickr.com/photos/10498579@N07/sets/ |
