I am torn on the engine thing. I think that the car would be more balanced (what I like) with the lighter 4-cylinder, but it would be overall faster (fun, but not necessarily my thing) and less expensive (always a good thing) to build with the V8. Incidentally, one of the works TR7V8s was third overall at the 1980 1000 Lakes Rally, so they can do well at fast rallies. Getting back on topic, I ground off some more rust, sprayed on some more primer, put more paint on the tow hook, beat some panels back into shape (looks like the toe hooks were pulled abruptly and ripped a couple of attachment points through the bodywork). alan |

Why not shove in what the Trurnip 1854 and 2000cc motors developed into: Saab B204. Your turnip sump has the same bolt pattern, I'd bet the bellhousing will fit.Length OAL is about the same. 2000cc DOHC 16v, you'd just have to turbo it. and I have stacks of goodies including heads, cams cam covers, exhaust manifolds. Junk yard cheap, a plausible developement of the same basic architecture of the Ricardo thing, and possibly nearly bolt in. (Just mill off the "SAAB" on the cam cover.) You'd be crazy not to. > > Incidentally, one of the works TR7V8s was third > overall at the 1980 1000 Lakes Rally, so they can > do well at fast rallies. > > Getting back on topic, I ground off some more > rust, sprayed on some more primer, put more paint > on the tow hook, beat some panels back into shape > (looks like the toe hooks were pulled abruptly and > ripped a couple of attachment points through the > bodywork). > > alan > > John Vanlandingham Sleezattle, WA, USA Vive le Prole-le-ralliat www.rallyrace.net/jvab CALL +1 206 431-9696 Remember! All of the H engine pictures that I have seen have the distributor hanging off of the end of the exhaust cam. Is that true for a B204 as well? Is that the flywheel end? If so, I think that it would foul the TR7 firewall. > You'd be crazy not to. I am crazy to be building this car, so where does that put us? |

We are finally bolting things back on the car!
Last night we added some rectangular tube just below the rockers for jackpoints/underbody protection mounting and general intrusion protection (my car seems to like rocks - and yes, lakes too). We also started plumbing the prop valve and handbrake. Bob #627 Bob #627 |

Me and mechanic got into the zone helped by my new garage kerosene heater and plenty of beers and smokes.
Hacked the rad fans to clear the oil cooler lines. Installed new rad and filled. Cut about 10lbs from the wire harness and tucked it outa harms way. Bent up a custom mount for the ECU off the floor. Plumbed new brake lines, hydraulic HB and brake bias. Prepped some of the interior for paint. Gone fishing |
