I thought about working on the XR but didn't. At least I got it started and set base timing earlier this week. Thanks for letting me borrow your Gun JV.

I finally sold and delivered the Formula Ford, so the TR7 is now in the garage.

For a TR7, my car has very little rust. For a TR7. However, since it is a 1970s British car, built before they discovered the benefits of corrosion protection and built by Communists who didn't care about quality, there is a good bit of rust control to do.

I am also collecting pieces so I can move the battery to the back of the car and collecting carb linkage bits so I can reorient the Webers so I can get to the adjustment screws while the engine is running. The plan is to drive the car around for a little bit before stripping it down and sending it sending it off to Cascade for a cage.

Remind me to tell you what my cousin did to his TR7 sometime; something about an International truck chassis and a 400 smallblock...

I washed the Outback and adjusted a Hella 4000 compact that was aimed at the power lines. Yay.

Today, I ...

- vacuumed a bunch of loose rust and debris from under the front "nose cone" panel, under the carpet under the driver seat, and the boot (it is a Brit car, so I have to call it a 'boot', not a trunk)

- removed the AM/FM radio antenna cable (I sold the radio on eBay over the summer for $250)

- removed the sill carpet and a lot of the adhesive that once held the carpet down

- removed the exterior vent panels (the black panels behind the doors), breaking all of the T fasteners that hold them on, inspected for rust and found almost none (this is a big rust area for TR7s)

- put the car up on stands, inspected the underside of the car for rust and found very little

- painted one of the front (factory) tow eyes

- tried to remove the rubberised cover for the front bumper, but every fastener that I tried to undo just snapped off

Pin jacks rock. I gotta do that one day.

What do you mean by Merc? As in mercury? I didn't know any factory cars used pin jacks.. lost a bit here!

fawk. We pulled the tranny out to see if we could fix the issue I'm having with the new clutch "sticking" to the flywheel causing the input shaft to spin up even though the clutch pedal is depressed. Some careful cleaning and more lube on the input shaft splines but it didn't work. I'm back to square one. It makes shifting into reverse a grind (no synchros) and first and second can be tough. Not the end of the world stuff obviously but its annoying enough and I'm stubborn enough that I'm going to have to fix it somehow.

argh...
