I fit up my new tires today. They should go on without too much fuss, a little fender lip trimming and some hammering looks like all is needed.

Rear:

Front:

Tread:

Tires are 27x8.5 R14 General Grabber AT2. They should be a whole lot more fun than worn out cracked weathermasters.

Carl, have you tried those tires on your vw? If so, I'd be interested to know how they fit in the car and what width wheels you ran them on. Thanks!

Ordered new pistons, rings for the Integra. Already have new rods and a new crank.

Going to fix spun rod bearing that we got a couple years ago at Oregon Trail.

Will be nice to have the car moving/driving again.

I do alignments myself. Between the string trick, a trammel bar that I made cheap and careful measurement, I have been able get the alignment just right on my cars. Then again, all of my cars are small (90" wheelbase on the Elise, 85" on the TR7) and I don't know if the techniques that I use scale up,

I did break down and buy a caster/camber gauge though.

I should save up for the nice alignment toys, but they're pricey.

setting camber on my car is easy.....MAXout the stock camber bolts. rear isn't adjustable anyway.

I havnt put them on anything other than my volvo. They're 27" tall, which is almost 2" taller than the 185/70/14 the volvo came with. They're on 5.5" wide wheels I think.

Learn to do the string alignments. They work great once you do it a couple times. The trick I've found is to make sure you use turning plates. My turning plates are 2 squares of hpde with grease in between. Works great, costs cheap. I did an alignment at the x games using string and lawn chairs. No complaints from the driver. I've used the $400 smart strings setup. You can replicate your own for way less. The $215 smart camber gauge is a $30 craftsman digital level on a custom frame.

I flogged my Saab 96 mercilessly last night. I almost feel guilty.

Is this using the Donjer stuff? I bought the stuff, but I am not doing any flocking until closer to when I reinstall the dash in the car.

Yesterday I drove it over to JVL's to talk about brakes and suspension and stuff. picked up the front tow hook/jack point/skid plate mounts, and the center skid plate support/cross-member for fitment to the car. Showed John that I actually plan to do some seam welding. BS'd about Enduro racing. Had a great time.

Good to see you yesterday Sean. I saw you started to do some seam welding. Your car is really starting to come to shape. I can't wait to come out to some events to spectate. I just about have the exhaust hung on my xratty. Bought some really nice clamps at Air Flo system today. I just need to beat on the rear hanger a bit to get the right angle.
