Basically yeah but it's very simple. You clean the hell out of the dash with brake cleaner, Paint it with LATEX spray paint then you brush on the adhesive goop (which is colour matched to the flocking material) then you put the powdered suede in this little canister and pump away. All the suede that doesn't stick to the dash can be recovered if you put a drop cloth under the dash while you're doing it.

finished the 1st 'test' piece. Still have to do the lower cross-bar, but here's the top piece after I grinded down some welds to make it prettier.

This sure sounds like a lot of effort to make the dash not shiny.

I use sandpaper on it when it gets too shiny. *Presto!! No more dashboard in the windshield when driving into the sun!

The Mazdog has now been blessed with:

New Chapman struts (including top mounts - the originals had rotted away)
New half shafts

Trinder and I also took the left front window switch apart in an attempt to resuscitate the contacts. This became a comedy routine as we tried to reassemble the springs and sliders in the correct order. It made it back into one piece and now doesn't work in an entirely new way. At least the down function now works.

New switch to be ordered on Monday. Next task: sunroof repairs and VHF radio install.

Traded the Audi for the above
Sold the 1993 Honda Civic EG w/B16A Conversion to the Raw Racing boys

Weld a big washer at the base of the pin where it goes in to the bigger tube and cut a similar sized chunk of rubber to go on the washer so that when you're all enthusiastic and you thrust it in there balls deep before shes ready you dont mangle the hole.

Yeah but as Grant hughes once pointed out it's just one of those things that make a rally car a RALLY CAR!

Curious... How do you clean this "suede" dashboard after a dusty rally? Can you just wipe it down like a stock dash in 30 seconds? Does it look good once and then it just looks like dirt so need to clean it anymore?
